Opening of the 10th edition of the Gay Games on August 1st in Paris

The 10th edition of the Gay Games is held in Paris from August 1st to August 12th and will be inaugurated on August 4th at the stage Jean Bouin in the 16th district of Paris. The selected topic is inclusion, the respect of diversity and the celebration of the sport quelquesoit its membership sexual.

The Gay Games take place every 4 years and are organized since 1982 different cities and continents. 4 years ago, the 9th edition was held in Cleveland in the United States and accommodated 51 delegations of 48 states. The singer Lance Bass made the unveiling, proposing the fact that the Gay Games represent a means of fight against the prejudices and president Barak Obama made a point of underlining the projection towards the equal rights for the LGBT.

For Gay Games 10, Paris decided to put the small dishes in the large ones by waiting until 2024; 300,000 people are expected and a village will be installed from August 3rd to August 11th on the square of the Town hall of Paris and it will be the occasion for all (participating, Parisian, tourists and voluntary.) to take part in animations of which concerts or initiations with certain sports. The appointment is given the every day of 10 to 18:00 out of the 12,000 m ² of the square and of 18 at 23:00, it will be possible to assist each evening to 2 shows and 1 theme party. The closing ceremony booked to the participants will proceed on Saturday, August 11 at the end of the afternoon on the square whereas that of opening (gathering of the participants, procession of the athletes of more than 80 nationalities, speech of the official ones.) is accommodated by the stage Jean Bouin as from 16:00. A great show of opening will follow itself from there to the Large palace which can accommodate more than 5600 people, animated by the most known DJ of the international gay scene, Offer Nissim. He will be accompanied by the singers Maya Simantov, Meital de Razon, Riki Ben Ari and Ivana Lola and the opening will be ensured by Kingstone and Teddy J, both DJ resident at RedWolf.

Another evening, booked exclusively with participating will take place on August 8th on board Pontoon of a capacity of 1,500 people, a great tombola will be organized. Lastly, an evening of fence will take place with to the Docks the 11 at the evening and will last until the morning, 8,000 people are expected there.

Concerning the sporting event, 36 sports (Dive, free water, swimming, swimming synchronized, water polo, athletics (5 km & 10 km, semi & marathon), track & field, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, bowling, box, cycling, VTT, sporting dance, work hard, field hockey, figure skating, football, golf, handball, judo, hockey, martial arts, game of bowls, Pink Flamingo, roller derby, roller chases, oar, Rugby with seven, veil, softball, squash, table tennis, tennis, triathlon, urban dance, volley ball, fight) will be represented during these meetings that it is in Paris or in the area.

As with each edition, a race rainbow will open the games mixing cycling, walk on foot, race and roller–skating, at the beginning of the Town hall then street of Rivoli, crossing the Tuileries Gardens, then going down again via the banks of the Seine on Paris beach to return place of the Town hall. This race pays homage to the artist Keith Haring, militant Rikki Streicher and with Dr. Tom Waddell, the founder of the Gay Games.

Side constant watery sports Pa the FFN, go to Montreuil at the nautical stage Maurice Thorez but also at the base of leisures the Vairy ones on the Marne for the freestyle but also with the lake located between the channel St Martin and the channel of Ourcq.

The competitions mixed and female of water polo will be held in 2 Parisian swimming pools: the swimming pool Georges Vallerey, and the swimming pool Roger Le Gall. Realized by the clubs of swimming, synchro, water polo, free water and dive, on the topic of “French KIS”, large final “Pink Flamingo” will attract a majority of spectators at the end of the week of competitions.

Nearly 400 people the disciplines of Tennis will be shared, Basketball and football while softball, bowling in Indy Paris the Vault and face of the Seine, rollercourse, sporting dance with the Japy gymnasium or game of bowls with the Arenas of Lutèce will attract other participants in Parisian places.

Tests will proceed out of the Paris region as in Le Havre (76) for the sail for the first time at sea free with the partnership of the League of Veil of Normandy, with a hundred participants. In Paris region, the golf course Boulie close to Versailles (78) will accommodate the tests while Aren‘ Ice, skating rink of Cergy (95) will be the theatre of the competitions of hockey.

The first 3 days will be booked with international conferences around the sport and diversity from August 1st to August 3rd. They will take place in the living rooms of the Town hall with the participation of 54 speakers (doctors, researchers, militants and practitioners as well as representatives of the public institutions and movement sporting Olympic or national of which the FSGL or Federation Sport for all, it Inter–LGBT, the AFL). On the whole, 11 subjects will be broached and 200 people are expected. At the end of these 3 days, “the Call of Paris 2018 for the sport for all”, text of conclusion, will be established and will mention 18 specific proposals made public on Saturday, August 11, 2018 during the closing ceremony of Gay Games 10. After that, philosophical coffees will take the continuation for example in the form of exhibitions.

After all that, go in 4 years to Hong Kong for the 11th Gay Games.
