The first to visit the International Agricultural Show is President Emmanuel Macron, early in the morning.
While the President of the Republic reaffirmed his support for French farms in the face of international competition at the Agricultural Show, the implementation of support policies is stalling, forcing farmers to turn to other solutions to earn money.
As soon as the ribbon was cut to inaugurate the sixty-first edition of the International Agricultural Show, global agricultural issues took center stage on Saturday, February 22 in Paris. Morocco as guest of honor, the head of government Aziz Akhannouch stood alongside the President of the Republic at the scissors.
The show is therefore the unmissable event of the year to discuss the political, economic and strategic issues of the sector with representatives of public authorities, the political sphere and partners.
On Tuesday, the Cniel received a visit from Prime Minister François Bayrou, accompanied by Minister of Agriculture Annie Genevard, during a breakfast that allowed for a constructive and in-depth dialogue around the strategic issues that will shape the future of milk and the dairy sector in France: export and international markets, health management, consumption, prospects for the organic sector, attractiveness of territories and professions.
On Wednesday, a round table on the feminization of professions in the dairy sector was organized in the presence of Aurore Bergé, Minister Delegate for Gender Equality and the Fight against Discrimination on the search for levers, solutions and prospects to attract and support more women in professions in the dairy sector.
François Bayrou made his first visit to the show as head of government on Monday, February 24. Two days after the visit of the President of the Republic, the tenant of Matignon found, at Porte de Versailles, « a great calm », « the feeling of renewed confidence » with the agricultural world, even if « not all the problems have been resolved », he said at the end of a morning meeting with the four main organizations in the sector (FNSEA, Young Farmers, Rural Coordination, Peasant Confederation).
These unions « recognize the very great efforts and decisions that have been made, in particular with the vote on this major orientation law that we managed to have adopted » on February 20, François Bayrou stressed. But there still remains « to resolve the problems of prices, income, which is the most important problem », as well as « the questions of water, which are also essential ».
The day before, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron had committed to doing everything « to protect this French and European food sovereignty » in an unstable world where Beijing, Trump or Putin can shake up French wines, cognacs, cheeses or wheat.
Visiting the International Agricultural Show, Annie Genevard, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, went to see producers.
Annie Genevard, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, discussed European marketing standards at the Cidres de France stand on Sunday 23 February 2025, in Hall 2.2. An important issue for the cider industry.
To do this, Annie Genevard announced that the food sovereignty conferences, included at her initiative in the agricultural orientation bill, should be finalized in early 2026. « Each sector has one year to set clear production objectives over ten years, taking into account the effect of global warming, » she specified, highlighting upcoming announcements on the method to follow « in a bottom-up approach. »
