The ex president of the European Parliament Nicole Fontaine died Thursday, May 18 at the 76 years age.
Born on January 16th, 1942 close to Fécamp (Seine–maritime), this former lawyer, person in charge of catholic teaching had made known themselves in 1984 during the mobilization against the Savary government bill on the private school, finally withdrawn by François Mitterrand under the pressure of the street. It will remain responsible for the relations between public authorities and private establishments during 20 years.
Laid off at 20 years, then graduate of Sciences Po Paris, it takes down in 1969 a doctorate of State in public law for a thesis on the application of the law Debré, which had instituted the mode of contracts between the State and private establishments of teaching.
Euro–MP of 1984 to 2002, it had chaired the European Parliament of 1999 to 2002, becoming thus the second woman to be reached this station after Simone Veil. She integrates after the government of Jean–Pierre Raffarin as minister delegated to Industry (2002–2004). In charge of this wallet, it had carried the law founder of the French Internet, the law for confidence in the digital economy. It had become member of the direction of the French federalistic movement the Federation as from the Nineties. She had taught of 2010 to 2015 within the university of Nice–Sophia–Antipolis then to the ESCP Europe.

Its religious funeral will take place on May 24th with Neuilly on the Seine with the church St Pierre.
