The Fourth Edition of the Paris Book Festival

From April 11 to 13, 2025, the Paris Book Festival returned for its fourth edition, finally back at the Grand Palais.

From April 11 to 13, 2025, the Paris Book Festival returned for its fourth edition, finally back at the Grand Palais.

A first in… thirty-two years, and the closure, in November 1993, of the building’s nave due to the detachment of a small bolt from the dome a few months earlier.

In 1981, the National Publishing Union created the Paris Book Fair to showcase the diversity of French publishing production and chose the Grand Palais for this event, which has become a must-see in the literary world. It then moved to the Porte de Versailles in the 1990s and has been held at the Grand Palais Ephémère since 2022.

Numerous authors, publishers, and booksellers are there to celebrate all things books and reading, with Morocco as the country of honor. In addition, filmmakers, actors, visual artists, and musicians are also invited to participate in this major celebration of culture and reading, featuring musical readings, graphic novels, writing workshops, and the Grande Dictée on April 11th.

The invitation extended to Morocco commemorates the rapprochement between Rabat and Paris, following the recognition in 2024 of the Kingdom’s sovereignty over Western Sahara, a territory whose status has not been defined by the UN.

38 publishing houses and 50 authors from a country that has produced many famous authors in French-language literature. The two Moroccan winners of the Prix Goncourt, Tahar Ben Jelloun (in 1987) and Leïla Slimani (in 2016), are participating in discussions, as is Abdellah Taïa, winner of the Prix Décembre 2024.

Marc Lavoine presented his new book « Quand arriver les chevaux » (When the Horses Arrive) on January 15th, published by Fayard.

On April 12, he offered the public two hours to sign autographs.

Marc Lavoine pays a poignant tribute to his mother. At her bedside as she lay dying, the artist takes refuge in dreams to overcome this ordeal. The dreamlike and offbeat story plunges the narrator into an inner quest, blending pain and creativity. Marc Lavoine revisits his artistic and family heritage, offering a moving reflection on life, death, and maternal love. This novel marks the literary comeback of this sensitive and poetic artist, a key figure on the French literary scene.
