This Thursday evening, in the opening match of the 27th day of the Pro D2 championship, Colomiers Rugby held its own against SU Agen.

After their victories against Oyonnax, Nevers, and Aurillac, their three solid performances, the Agen team were completely unimpressed this Thursday evening in Colomiers, where they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season (59-10).

Unbalanced on paper between Colomiers (4th), a contender for their first home playoffs – at least – and Agen (11th), still fighting for survival without reaching the playoff stage, this opening match of the 27th day of the Pro D2 championship was also unbalanced on the pitch at Michel-Bendichou (59-10). After putting up a good fight for halftime despite a poor lineout (17-3), Sébastien Calvet’s men collapsed in the second half, conceding eight tries in total against Colomiers, who temporarily climbed into the top three.

With this bonus-point victory, thanks to eight tries scored, Julien Sarraute’s men further cemented their place in the top four and saw the final phase draw closer. Agen, for its part, remains six points above the relegation zone, pending the results of tomorrow’s matches.

A dismal evening to quickly forget for a revamped Agen team, which was certainly not invited, given the efficiency and speed of the Toulouse suburban team, who seem to be drawing more and more inspiration from their prestigious neighbors.

Next week, Colomiers will travel to Montauban for a duel between two contenders for the final phase. Agen, meanwhile, will host Soyaux Angoulême.
