The fireworks display 2020 in Paris in the colors of everyday heroes

The City of Paris has decided to maintain the July 14 fireworks display fired from the Eiffel Tower, unlike many cities that canceled the show due to the ban on rallies.

Cities that have canceled are Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse, Strasbourg, Nice, Rennes, Bordeaux, Nantes or Lille. On the other hand, those who have maintained the show are Nancy, Béziers, Agde or Frontignan in the Montpellier region.

This year, the capital hosted the National Day protests in very special conditions following the health crisis. The parade on the Champs Elysées was replaced by a ceremony on Place de la Concorde, with no crowd but with 2,500 guests in honor of the healthcare workers and the 4 countries that welcomed 161 French patients from the Greater-East region who had Covid-19 in their hospitals during the crisis: Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

No land vehicles, but only a parade of troops on foot, that is 2,000 soldiers from 39 brigades and military schools, followed by the overflight of the capital by 52 planes and 20 helicopters, interrupted by 3 animations: “Tribute to General de Gaulle”; “The tradition of July 14, national holiday, popular festival” and “Tribute to the Nation”.

The City of Paris and the Paris Police Prefect have adapted fireworks to exceptional circumstances with special organizational arrangements; This year, it was shot at a distance at 11 p.m. from the Eiffel Tower and the Trocadéro gardens; a wide perimeter has been banned for the public, usually gathering more than 500,000 people on the Champ de Mars.

The big concert in Paris organized by Radio France for the 8th consecutive year and presented by Stéphane Bern was also held in camera at 9.10pm. He brought together 65 musicians of the Orchestre national de France, the Choir of Radio France and the Master of Radio France under the direction of the conductor Eun Sun Kim, as well as the greatest international soloists including Fatma Said, Sonya Yoncheva (soprano), Ludovic Tézier (baryton), Benjamin Bernheim (tenor), Sol Gabetta (cello), Lisa Batiashvili (violin), Lucienne Renaudin Vary (trumpet), Khatia Buniatishvili (piano), Marina Batič (conductor), Sofi Jeannin (conductor). A wonderful moment of classical music that ended with a sumptuous Marseillaise.

The 35-minute pyrotechnic show, “Thanks to the heroes of the daily newspaper who worked against the epidemic,” began at 11 p.m., representing the resilience of Paris and France in the eyes of the world to the sound of “Monday, Tuesday…” by Dalida, “I have the flanking memory” by Jeanne Moreau, “The Blue Words” by Christophe, the accordion or “Life in Pink”… In terms of color, red, pink and green are the dominant colors in the 12 paintings.

The lyrical concert and fireworks, were broadcast live on television on France 2, but also on radio and Internet, by France Inter and Paris.fr
