Pro D2: Grenoble wins against Colomiers

Grenoble opens its path to the semi-finals a little more.

FC Grenoble won as leaders and in style in Colomiers this Friday evening (24-36) for the 19th day of Pro D2.

Fifth away victory of the season (24-36) for the Isérois who are still very much leaders in the standings. The Columérins lose their place in the top 6, but remain in the race.

The match had started strongly, with a penalty and a 5m touch obtained on the return by Grenoble, who did not exploit it. On the other hand, Colomiers moved up the field and the thrower combined with Timu, for the opening score (7-0, 7th). Davies reduced the score after a new penalty on the return (7-3, 9th). Grenoble had entered the game but made a lot of mistakes, especially given their status as leaders. They were more respectful of their position as the best attack, when Heriteau took the gap after a scrum in the opposing camp, before serving Fusier for the try (7-10, 21st).

On a ball recovered in the opposing camp, Laborde was opportunistic to serve Dulon, who would flatten between the posts (14-10, 23rd). In a ruck, a Grenoble player made a useless croc roll, allowing the Haut-Garonnais to go into touch in the opposing camp. After good work from the forwards, Alonso-Munoz accelerated before sending Auriac to make the difference (21-10, 27th). But even with this delay, and a yellow card from its pillar Raynaud (31st), the FCG remained in the race. On a 5m penalty touch, Pieterse concluded the maul (21-17, 36th), opening the way to an open second half.

The Isérois had a dream second half with an imperial Sam Davies on foot (8/8). Grenoble took advantage of a numerical superiority to drive the nail in the coffin thanks to Pieterse (author of a double in Haute-Garonne).

Despite a yellow card received by Bastien Soury at the end of the match, Colomiers broke its teeth on the FCG defense. Grenoble has recorded a fifth away victory this season and continues to gallop at the top of the Pro D2. FCGrenoble had not won in Colomiers since 1999.
