Art in Occitania – Art dislocates

This exhibition took place in 15 containers with 16 artists and as Guest of Honor Sébastien Castella, a great figure in Bullfighting. This is the fifth season of this exhibition, each container, fitted out for the occasion, presented works of art. It is a one-of-a-kind cultural event.

During the Féria de Béziers, the exhibition “L’Art déboite” was held on the Allées Paul Riquet from August 12 to 15 in Béziers. Sixteen artists came from all over the south of France to exhibit their works in L’Art déboite.
Fabrice Delprat, director of the Dupré & Dupré art gallery, chose the artists. A work related to Bullfighting was asked of them even if some did not belong to this world.

It is a one-of-a-kind cultural event.

Sébastien Castella, former Toreador, he captured the bulls on the capes he fought during his career. Sébastien Castella uses his experience around the world to create his works. The artist had positive opinions in Miami when he first exhibited at the David Rosen Gallery.

Alexandre Nicolas, Toulouse Fine Arts graduate, sculptor of “synthetic crystal”, a special material “inclusion resin”.

Patrice Dolzet de Lizan, known as Patrice Donzel, painter, sculptor, comic book author, based in Sète devotes himself fully to his art and creates like a free artist.

Maxime Lhermet, plastic artist painter, based in Sète. The artist is inspired by popular culture, advertising, TV series, comics and cinema. Maxime Lhermet is a multi-faceted artist. He uses all possible media and will use a wide range of colors.

Jacques Charvet, visual artist from the Occitan region. This artist has created many visuals for the city of Béziers, for certain events including the Féria.

Jihane Khelif, blurs the boundaries between drawings, paintings and photographs. The artist works on visual breaks through the exploration of blur, of emptiness.

Carine Fourment Hullo paints horses for the image of freedom they convey and their raw wildness.

Stéphane Daure lives in Bordeaux, where he works as a psychiatrist and he exhibits in France on the theme of Bullfighting.

Christian Bernard, originally from Carpentras known as “Narbero”, is a completely self-taught painter and sculptor. His style is abstract figurative, he paints color, light, nature, life according to his mood and the feelings of the moment.
Quentin Revilla, an artist with a modern vision of painting. The artist is from Béziers and a pupil of the bullfighting school. His works express his feelings at the heart of the arena.
Jean-Marc Calvet is a self-taught Franco-Nicaraguan painter. He started painting in the 90s. The artist uses his obsessions, his ghosts, his demons to recover a creative energy. The artist is by definition a receptacle of emotions. For Jean-Marc Calvet, painting is automatic, he lets his unconscious act.

Among its containers, the visitor was able to discover the association “Les Écluses de l’Art” for the second time. This association makes artists known and allows them to exhibit, to have a place to work. The city of Béziers has two places of creation at the Villa Antonine, two other places at the Moulin de Bagnols and another at the Maison de Relin.

La Maison Relin is an artistic research laboratory. The artists are selected on file by an artistic committee made up of art professionals.

Their goal is “to open the doors to Contemporary Art”. These places are made available free of charge to multidisciplinary artists such as Dominique Renson, Corinne Tichadou, Magalie Sire.

This strong exhibition, astonishing by its location, is worth the visit. Another way to exhibit.
