Funerals proceed in the church St Mary the Great of the university of Cambridge, close to the establishment where he worked during more than 50 years.
The ceremony will take place in the church St Mary the Great of the famous university of the city, within walking distance of Gonville and Caius College where the astrophysicist worked during more than 50 years. Funerals of this convinced atheist will proceed in the intimacy as from 2 p.m. – 15 hours in France.
Family, friends and colleagues will be brought together to pay homage to the scientist deceased on March 14th, whose genius and physical handicap had made an universally known personality. “The life and the work of our father meant so many things for so many people, believers like nonbelievers. Thus, the service will be at the same time inclusive and traditional, reflecting the scale and the diversity of its life”, his/her children, Lucy, Robert and Tim indicated, in an official statement.
The family asked six people resulting from the university of Cambridge to carry her coffin.
“Our father lived and worked in Cambridge lasting more than 50 years. (…) For this reason we decided to organize its funeral in the city which he liked so much and which liked it in return”, they explained.
