The weekend of January 7 to 9, 2022 was the 14th day of National. With their victory at Blagnac, Massy consolidates its leading position in the standings.
With eight wins in thirteen games, Blagnac Rugby had certainly made a success of its first part of the season and did not want to stop there.
The match began with a session of more than three minutes in which the two sides exchanged streaks and kicking play. At the end of this long streak, Captain Medves, struck in the eye, had to leave his comrades prematurely, he was replaced by Tolofua. The Massicois tried to chain the passes after contact in the defense but committed a forward and made a mistake (8th), the Blagnac in turn conceded a penalty but the rear Cloute, 30 meters, missed the target (12th).
The next action, the opener Ortolan played over the defensive curtain (his second attempt of the match), the blow paid off this time since the three-quarter center Guillomot recovered and immediately continued with a low kick in the direction of ‘Antunes.
However, this hardly prevented the Ile-de-France residents from adding volume. In the 40 opponents, Ortolan, still him, took the interval and served Antunes. The latter hooked inside but was caught by Seunes a few inches from the goal.
The locals were gradually recovering, they obtained a free kick from the scrum, full-back Renaud opted for the candle under which Gbizie was rushing. The third center line (passed through the Stade Toulousain Espoirs, then through the Girou Valley then coached by Didier Herrerias) broke several tackles and pierced before serving Antunes, who extended to the Ferrer pillar. Blagnac committed another fault, which allowed Cloute to add three points (0-10 35th).
The Blagnacais however opened their counter when, following a voluntary forward from the same Antunes (which earned him a yellow card), Renaud passed three points (3-10, 48th). After an offside following a bad play at Ortolan’s foot, the full-back caouec even doubled the lead three minutes later to bring his team down to four short lengths (6-10, 51st).
Just entered, hooker Villerouge split with a superb breakaway from his 22 before being caught by Gbizie. Moments later, Seunes took over the goal and scored three points: Blagnac was just a small point (9-10, 63rd).
Massy scratched a ball on the ground and inherited a penalty. Ortolan grabbed the ball but, instead of going for a classic penal touch, opted for the cross kick to the right side, left well bald by the blagnacai defense, but not by Antunes, who picked up the ball and scored the test of his personal double despite the return of Seunes (9-15, 67th).
In the midst of a multitude of players, Seunes jumped for the ball and fell back into the goal. Mr. Urruzmendi would give the try… before deceiving himself seconds later. The public and the caouecs players were in shock (80th). The referee did come back to a penalty, resulting in a new sequence and a final penalty hit. The shot was thwarted by the Massicois line-up, which got hold of the game. Thus ended the meeting.
