The next Olympic Games will proceed in 2020 in Tokyo, four years before those of Paris.
Since 1982, Paris and Tokyo are bound by a pact which links the two cities in many fields like the environment, the culture, the sport, the urban development or tourism.
Within the framework of this pact, the two cities signed a new project where the beach of Odaiba where the tests of triathlon for Tokyo 2020 will proceed will accommodate an exposure “Paris Plage” to Minato, a district of Tokyo this summer.
For this purpose, Gouverneure of Tokyo, Yuriko Koike and Maire de Paris Anne Hidalgo signed in October 2017 a Joint Declaration aiming at reinforcing the friendship between the two cities on the sets of themes of the sport, the environment and tourism.
In order to concretize the partnership between Paris–Beach and Odaiba Beach, Patrick Klugman, assistant of the mayor of Paris in charge of the International relations and the Francophonie, went on May 22nd to Minato, district of Tokyo there to meet the mayor Masaaki Takei and to discover the beach of Odaiba where the tests of triathlon at the time as of Olympic and paralympic Games will proceed of 2020. It was as the occasion to discuss on the possibilities bathe in the waterways downtown and speaking about watery spaces as Parisian and Tokyioites want to reappropriate.
Since last year, the bathe in the Seine and the Basin of the Villette are with the program of Paris Plage. That constitutes an avant–garde of what will be Paris in 2024 for the Olympic Games and Paralympiques and even afterwards. The experiment of Tokyo on water quality in bay of Odabai will be thus a reference for Paris.
It is as on the beach of Odabai, the Japanese equivalent of Paris Plage as will be held this summer an exposure relating to Paris–Beach which each summer accommodates the Parisians and the tourists but also will be in 2024 the theatre of certain Olympic tests.
This year, Paris–Page is of return on July 7th and will last until September 2nd on 4 sites:
Sees Georges Pompidou (Park Banks of the Seine Right Bank
Paris Beaches proposes there hundreds of deckchairs for “idleness”, of the brumisateurs, the tables of picnic, the refreshment bars, of the glaciers, but also of the tournaments of pin–table football, the beach–volleyball, the meetings of taï–chi, the workshops of dance and a free library in an environment lawn and palm trees!
Port of Solférino and the Invalids – (Banks of the Seine left bank):
left bank, on the Banks of the Seine, with tens of deckchairs for “idleness”, of the brumisateurs, the tables of picnic, the refreshment bars, the glaciers to the bridge Alexander III
Parvis de l’Hôtel de Ville: Several key periods on the square: the Festival Fnac Live, then a track of athletics within the framework of the candidature of Paris for the Olympic Games of 2024. It is the Place where it will be necessary to be this summer.
Basin of the Villette:
Transformed into summer station in 2018 the basin of the Villette proposes the same activities as 2 banks: deckchairs, game of bowls, dancing waters, animations and show but also a space bathe quay of the Loire with three basins free open of 11:00 to 21:00.
On the 4 sites, for 2 months, it will be possible to remain on the spot of 9:00 at midnight thanks to the transitory restaurants and to slacken while reading thanks to the transitory libraries.
It is thus all that which Odaiba Beach will discover during the Paris Plage Exposure which will garner splendid stereotypes of the event; all that in a festive atmosphere and relaxed.
