He has a doctorate in musicology and masters the slam with virtuosity. Narcissus is what one can call a poet of the 21st century. And as such, he knew how to transcend his art by creating shows that combine grace with video and inevitably with the sound of the score.
Also, it is accompanied by a guitarist and nine television screens animated by a simple touch, which he points out with the words, the evils of our society. He demonstrates his faults as well as the absurdity of certain situations by drawing on the example of the employee facing his boss, the wife facing her husband, or the viewer in front of his screen. While they would like us as good little dumb and blind soldiers, he comes to provoke consciences weakened by the game of derision. By showing archival footage, video clips, ridiculous newsletters, and ad parodies, Narcisse opens up thinking, stimulates the intellect on a whole host of questions. Are those who have the floor, therefore the power, necessarily right? Do they really hold the knowledge? Do they have all the rights to our freedom to think and to express ourselves when they hit us with the famous “You, you shut up”?
For 1h15, under the amused and critical eye of Narcissus, eloquence has every legitimacy. He juggles the words he masters to perfection. He echoes them in a well-oiled orchestration. The questions are asked, the reasoning progresses, so that in the end, free will is not a constraint, but an elevation of the spirit.
