Since we can’t go to him anymore, this is the spectacle that comes to us. Thanks to technology. Thanks to social networks. Comedian Gregg, whose real name Greg Génart understood this well and adapted. To support the live performance, he was the first to put his only live filmed at the Afterwork theater in Mérignac (33) on a participative platform (where everyone is free to donate or not from 0 to 50 € ) which allows us to attend from our sofa. And it does.
The humorist tells us about the evil of the 21st century. The physical and emotional exhaustion syndrome at work affects between 5 and 10% of the population. Burnout, Gregg, got it. This is what he tells us in “An almost perfect burn-out”.
Everything seemed to be going well for the Belgian native until his wife urged him to find a job worthy of the name. So motivation. To prepare well, he calls on a coach. With him, the job interview and the eternal “rotten question” relating to the qualities and the defects “to better know how to lie”, the handshake neither too soft nor too firm, will be a formality. He was hired by one of the tire leaders.
He discovers with naivety, the joys of working in open space, the craze for gossip at the coffee break or cigarettes, the jealousies between colleagues, the acute reunion made of endless brainstormings and the moral manipulations of his boss. After 13 years, Gregg has become an essential part of the business, albeit in anticipation of a promotion he will never get. As a true business man, he masters “body language”, “full options”, “all-out team meetings” and “deadlines”. In summary, he “caught the virus from his job”. He is “fucking aware” and therefore in a state of chronic stress. The burnout reaches out to him. He’s bottoming out, of course, but he’s alive. So the time has come for the Quadra to finally do what it wants. To him the writing, to him the stage.
Inspired by his experience, “An almost perfect burn-out” is the only one on the contemporary scene that parodies the world of work. The burlesque satire that Greg Génart makes of it, portrays with self-mockery, the reality of situations known by everyone. The model employee makes a benevolent criticism of it, so much so that it becomes an initiatory journey pointing to the inner workings of company life; a perfect practical guide to becoming an ideal candidate.
