Written by the talented Simone Berno, published in the « Théâtre » collection, directed by Jérôme Martin by L’Harmattan (2021), this play is performed with sensitivity and brilliance by the duo-en-stage of Paule Abécassis and Jossia Bedu.
Already produced last September by the theater « Le passage vers les étoiles », this show is now performed at the Théothéâtre, 20 rue Théodore Deck, 75 015 Paris on Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m. from 20.01 until 18.02. Reservations on Billetreduc and at the theatre.
The staging of Simone Berno, who was also a psychoanalyst, takes us into a dreamlike universe where the burlesque borders on the absurd. Two women address a male puppet to take him to task.
A light subject but treated in a deep way by small touches, a crazy but subtle staging. The piece never ceases to amaze us to lead us behind closed doors of seduction as many women conceive of it today. And on the representation of « man » that they make of him.
Between us, what is seduction? And why do they fit in there? What is « the role of the woman in her seduction to the other? » « It’s a woman’s role to ask for the impossible to make it possible » « IT’s not much use » « Do you mind having it on your back all the time? » No, I don’t feel it » « The only solution is for you to untie it. I’ll know if he loves me for me or for my back. » (You must strive to be) « a woman who knows what she wants but does not decide » (You, a woman) « you have a little less character than a dog ».
Would that be feminist? Not that much. This theme is somewhat reminiscent of that of love in Musset, playful in appearance but profound in reality. This societal subject develops – not the theme of love – but that of the illusion in the relationship of women with men. The illusion on which they sometimes bump before discovering that the relationship with men is a blank page to write.
