A shooting in Paris leaves one dead and 4 slightly injured, and a suspect fled

A man was shot dead on Monday evening in Paris, in the 11th arrondissement and another four people were slightly injured. A suspect was apprehended by bar patrons, another managed to escape and is being actively sought.

A shooting took place this Monday evening, around 9:35 p.m., in Paris, 29 rue Popincourt, on the terrace of a shisha bar, La petite Escapee in the 11th arrondissement, for only 30 seconds, leaving one dead and four injured. The shots were fired in the direction of customers seated on the terrace.

Two men got out of a car, one with a 9mm pistol, the other with a Kalashnikov, and shot at two other men seated on the terrace. According to a source close to the investigation, the hypothesis of a settlement of accounts would be preferred at this stage. According to our information, the Kalashnikov assault rifle was found at the scene, “and allegedly belonged to the fleeing suspect, according to witnesses”.

The Minister of Transport and MP, Clément Beaune, reacted and expressed “his immense sadness and anger” in the face of “this dramatic act”. He called for “total mobilization to rescue the victims and arrest the culprits”.

An investigation was opened for “voluntary homicide and attempted voluntary homicide”, indicated a source close to the file. She was entrusted to the 2nd judicial police district (DPJ) by the Paris prosecutor’s office. Around 3:30 am the investigation was still ongoing on site by the 2nd judicial police district (DPJ).
