Paris still has many buildings today, where the standards are not up to date. Whether in the public or the private sector, many of them need to be brought up to current standards.
This week again, a fire broke out in a building in the 11th arrondissement. Fortunately, we do not deplore any victims.
The tenants had to evacuate their accommodation for several hours following a fire in an apartment on the 6th floor. According to the town hall, the facilities were not up to standard and would have started a fire after a short circuit.
It was the cold blood of a woman living in the street that allowed the rapid evacuation before the arrival of the firefighters. Having seen opaque smoke emerging from the top of the building, she called the emergency services. She then knocked on tenants’ doors to evacuate the premises.
After several hours, the tenants from the ground floor to the 4th floor were able to return to their homes, however without electricity or gas.
The town hall has rehoused, at least for the night, the occupants of the last 2 floors including those of the 6th where the fire started.
Vigilance is called for among owners and tenants so that other fires of this kind or even worse do not happen again.
