Notre Dame de Lorette is an accomplice place, in 1735, was a hospital created by the bishops of Saint Bertrand de Comminges, caring for each patient, but today is a place where we can dine and listen to various artists in concert.
“The Hospital of Charity Notre-Dame de Lorette was founded in 1734 by Gabriel Olivier de Lubières du Bouchet, Bishop of Saint Bertrand de Comminges. In the founding project, it is clearly specified that the sick must be treated and helped there. the poor of the neighboring localities, beggars, vagrants, free from contagious diseases. At the time more than eight French in ten lived in the countryside, without means of transport, the technical platforms of medicine and surgery were non-existent. C It is in this context that a royal ordinance of September 12, 1724 had prescribed the creation of small hospitals in rural areas to treat populations as close as possible to their place of residence. one of the veterans of the first French hospital policy. “
During the war of 1939 – 1945 it honors its tradition of hospitality by accommodating Alsatian refugees as well as a few children from Toulouse Jewish families and resistance fighters wanted by the German police. The buildings had lacked maintenance since the turn of the century. At the end of the war in 1945, they were already very deteriorated, due in particular to the roofs in very poor condition. The building, open to all winds, invaded by vegetation, was then abandoned and looted.
Christophe Ferry, saved Notre-Dame de Lorette as it is a historical monument from ruin in 1985, the roofs, the cloister, the old sick room with its French ceilings, were the subject of a major restoration project carried out for more than 30 years.
The old common room for the sick, recently restored with its magnificent French-style ceilings, its old-fashioned oak floor, its high windows and its walls 1.40m thick, offers a prestigious reception area. As an extension, it communicates directly with the old chapel. On its west side, it opens onto the cloister.
It has become the meeting place between the public and the artist, the choice of artists is always made on the basis of quality criteria, and the programming is very eclectic: song, classical, jazz, world music, dance, theater, slam.
