The 94th edition of the Miss France competition took place this Saturday, December 16 in Dijon.

The 94th edition of the Miss France competition took place this Saturday, December 16 in Dijon.

The 94th edition began by paying tribute to Tina Turner, who died last May, after which it continued with a second tribute where dozens of Miss France from all decades were brought together on the stage. Dressed in black and white, they pay tribute to Geneviève de Fontenay who for years was the face of the competition.

The evening begins with 80s music and rock’n’roll

Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper opens a musical scene that smells of the 80s. Then Bananarama with Venus, Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics, Wake Me Up by Wham!… Roller skates are out for the dancers and dancers who accompany the Misses and take reckless risks with their lives to perform swirling figures.

Tina Turner to Johnny Hallyday, the new musical picture is placed under the sign of rock, red and black. The Crazy Horse dancers accompany the Misses who parade in regional costume.

After midnight, the seven representatives of the jury and the viewers decided who will be Miss France 2024, it is Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Eve Gilles, the Miss with short hair.

The new Miss France, a second year undergraduate student in mathematics and computer science, has not clarified her position on the “beauty” contest in which she participated and which is widely contested by feminists. Succeeding Indira Ampiot, Miss Guadeloupe and France 2023, Ève Gilles was selected at the end of a great “show”, in the words of Jean-Pierre Foucault, 76 years old and presenter of the competition since 1995. Half of the score is delivered by viewers and the other by a jury of seven women.

The question everyone asks her: how does it feel to be the first Miss to have hair this short? A question that seems to somewhat annoy Eve Gilles, Miss France 2024, who does not wish to be summed up by her haircut.

The interview on the 1 p.m. set of TF1. A complex meeting for these young women unaccustomed to the media. This Sunday, December 17, facing Anne-Claire Coudray, Eve Gilles appeared rather relaxed in a sublime yellow dress, answering questions with a certain ease. Asked immediately about her short hair, she replied: “It’s a bit different from the Misses we knew before… Afterwards, I don’t want to be known as the Miss with short hair.”

Eva Gilles revealed the message she wanted to deliver during her reign: “I want to be the strong woman, to say no matter where we start, no matter the path we take, we can succeed in achieving our goals. The representation of women is diverse. We are all beautiful; we all have our particularities, we are all unique” she concluded.

Eve Gilles arrived at dawn in Paris where she put her bags at the 5-star hotel The Peninsula in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. When she arrived in her room, she had the pleasant surprise of discovering an adorable little personalized gift from the establishment: an embroidered “Miss France 2024” teddy bear.
