Greek journalist Giorgos Karaivaz was murdered outside his home in the Athenian suburb of Alimos on Friday.

Two men on motorcycles, one of whom was wearing what appeared to be army clothing, was reported to have shot Karavaiz at least six times as the journalist exited his car outside his home.

A 20 th bullets were found at the scene, and details indicate that the killers used a silencer, as neighbors did not hear any shots.

It is still unclear whether the perpetrators followed Karaivaz or waited for the journalist to arrive at his home.

The Greek journalist was assassinated around 2:30 p.m. on his way home from his work as an investigative journalist on the STAR television channel.

Karaivaz was on the panel of the popular daily show “Alitheies me tin Zina” on the same network.

Investigators are currently collecting information from potential witnesses in the area and will obtain video evidence from nearby security cameras in their hunt for the killers.

The death caused a shock in Greece, especially among journalists. Many believe that Karaivaz’s work as a Greek mafia and corruption investigative journalist may have something to do with his brutal death.

He was well known for his work on Greek news and crime. The journalist exploited the site bloko.gr, which reported on the matter.

Second murder of journalist in Greece in recent memory in 25 years

Friday’s brutal death marks the second time that a journalist has been murdered in Greece in the past 25 years.

Sokratis Giolias was shot dead 16 times at close range outside his home eleven years ago.

The far-left terrorist organization Sect of Revolutionaries welcomed the murder in a statement police believed to be genuine, as the weapon used in the journalist’s murder was routinely used by the terrorist group.

The perpetrators of the murder of Sokratis Giolias have never been apprehended and the police believe that the terrorist group of the sect of revolutionaries is still active to this day.
