The Final of the 6th edition of the Overseas Voices Competition was held on February 23, 2024, at the Opéra Bastille Amphitheater.

The Final of the 6th edition of the Overseas Voices Competition was held on February 23, 2024, at the Opéra Bastille Amphitheater.

The evening was placed under the high patronage of the President of the Republic. with the support of the Ministry responsible for Overseas Territories, the Ministry of Culture, the Île-de-France region, the Overseas division of France Télévision, the Orange Foundation and the airline Corsair.

Voices from Overseas Prize: Winona Berry, mezzo-soprano from Saint-Barthélemy.
Young Talent Prize went to Yvanna Burel, soprano from Mayotte. Richard Martet with us this evening, chaired the jury with Richard Martet (French music critic) and Judith Chaine (Producer).

This 6th edition was produced in partnership with the Paris National Opera and France Musique and in collaboration with Opera for Peace. Organized by the association “Les Contre Courants”, it aimed to give real visibility to overseas singing talents (self-taught, in training and professionals) on the national and international scene. Its objective was to open access to culture and artistic practice to as many people as possible through a cultural transition program for overseas territories.

Internationally renowned professionals provided high-quality teaching to develop artistic excellence. After this training where they were followed by artistic teams and Fabrice di Falco, the winners were able to access professional positions. Free masterclasses, talks and selections with Thomas Dutronc, Pene Pati, Edwin Crossley Mercier and Marie-Laure Garnier were also offered.
