Who founded Passage à art?
Stylist Françoise Merleau and Visual Artist Régine Bedin founded Passage àart in 2001. It is one of the main Training and Creation Workshops in Toulouse.
For more than 20 years, Passage à l’art has been preparing registrants to perform artistic functions, allowing them to apply all their knowledge, but also to discover all the basic techniques of hand and machine sewing. The apprenticeships provide access to the success of individual approaches, while discovering all the basic techniques of hand and machine sewing.
What do we learn at Passage à l’Art?
Passage to art prepares for the CAP (Analysis and exploitation of aesthetic and technical data; Implementation of the manufacture of all or part of a garment).
Classes learn to master these techniques:
Patronage
- The different molding techniques
- The different flat cutting techniques
- How to make a model
- Cutting the fabric
- The fitting of the garment,
- Machine sewing, (serger, a traditional machine).
- Hand sewing (various stitches, finishes etc.)
The CAP in fashion trades, unclear clothing, allows you to work in large companies, SMEs or craft businesses that have an activity in ready-to-wear, medium and high-end. This diploma allows you to make a garment in whole or in part and to control the finished product, whatever the technique used (blur or tailor).
We use “blur” to make flexible and unstructured clothes (dresses, interior clothes, shirts, layettes, etc.). The fabric used must be fine and supple.
Art and other concepts
A Tout Sens is a Toulouse company created in 2005, specializing in event communication through art. It is the basis of a project that mixes Haute Couture and art. The company developed the idea internationally with an unprecedented event “When Haute Couture Dress the Grands Crus”. It was a global concept around fashion, artistic creation and wine that started as soon as the invitation was received. Collaborations with regional artists and designers!
In the same vein, the Creators of Passage àart collaborated with musician Mellie Pascal-Rohken on a project bringing together fashion and music in a show.
This project was essentially based on the links between fashion creations and the musical works performed during the presentation. The performance took place on May 22 in the Espace Roguet auditorium in Toulouse.
The idea was to create paintings in which models and musicians shared the stage. The musicians on stage chose musical pieces related to the creations presented. highlighting the characteristics of each creation and vice versa. It was not just a parade to display the creations. It was a staging with staging games, interactions between the models presenting the different creations, with the music and the musicians… This collaboration between the Fashion School and the flutist brought together Musicians, Creators of Fashion and Dancer in order to present the creations on stage.
