Colomiers run in 10 tries in 66-21 rout of Dax

Colomiers scored 10 tries to beat US Dax 66-21 in Pro D2, with Martin Dulon claiming a hat-trick in their first victory of the season.

Colomiers Rugby claimed their first win of the new Pro D2 season in emphatic fashion, scoring 10 tries in a 66-21 victory over US Dax at Stade Michel-Bendichou on Friday, September 18. Martin Dulon led the scoring surge with a hat-trick as the home side also secured the attacking bonus point.

Dax briefly looked capable of disrupting the evening.

Martin Dulon opened the scoring after seven minutes, but Jope Naseara answered for the visitors and Hugo Cerisier’s conversion put Dax 7-5 ahead after 12 minutes.

That was as good as it got for the visitors.

Alberto Carmona restored the lead for Colomiers before Richard Hardwick and Dulon crossed in quick succession. Fly-half Thibault Debaës then added a try of his own before Dulon completed his hat-trick shortly before half-time.

Ratu Josaia Nacika crossed for Dax on the stroke of half-time, but Colomiers still went into the break with a commanding 40-14 advantage.

The hosts immediately resumed their attack after the interval. Simão Broeiro Bento and Grégoire Bazin both scored inside the opening seven minutes of the second half to take Colomiers beyond 50 points.

Benjamin Puntous supplied Dax’s third try, but Carmona completed his brace before Ugo Seguella crossed with the final play to seal a 66-21 victory.

Colomiers finished with 10 tries and eight conversions from Debaës. Dax scored three converted tries.

The result also marked a sharp change in direction for Colomiers. They had opened the campaign with defeats against Soyaux-Angoulême, Provence Rugby and Biarritz before collecting their first victory and an attacking bonus against Dax.

Dax, meanwhile, have now conceded heavily in both of their opening away fixtures, following a 65-35 defeat at Aurillac with 66 points conceded at Colomiers.

Colomiers travel to Brive for Round 5 on Thursday, September 24, while Dax return to Stade Maurice-Boyau to host Nice the following evening.
