Synopsis: Everyone has a guardian angel to watch over them and help them make the right choices. Raphaëlle is Paul’s angel. She has the art of ensuring that her « clients » succeed in every way in life. Gabriel is Léa’s angel. His sole ambition is to create a romance between Paul and Léa. Alas, that doesn’t fit into Raphaëlle’s plans…
This Tuesday, April 29th, at 7 p.m., the preview screening of Vladimir Rodionov’s film, « Angels, Inc. », starring Elodie Fontan, Romain Lancry, and Julien Pestel, took place at the Publicis Cinema.
Romain Lancry, today, is not only an actor but also a screenwriter in « Angels and Co. », co-written with his longtime partner, Vladimir Rodionov.
Welcome to the world of guardian angels! Paul and Léa should never have met. Ever since, they’ve been irresistibly drawn to each other.
What if your guardian angel wasn’t there just to protect you… but to sabotage your love life?
Their angels get involved! Raphaëlle, a zealous careerist, and Gabriel, a clumsy dilettante, are forced to team up to prevent this budding romance. If they fail? No forgiveness: eternal exile on Earth for one and farewell to divine promotion for the other!
In the world of Angels and Co., every move we make is dictated, or at least influenced, by our guardian angels. This calls into question the notions of destiny and free will.
The archangels have decreed that Paul and Léa have only a 3% compatibility, but that ignores the fact that love at first sight and soulmates exist, and that they defy all predictions. You may or may not subscribe to this theory. And if you don’t believe it, you’ll certainly raise your eyebrows at certain scenes.
A perilous mix of genres that could have become indigestible if it weren’t so well-balanced. Unfortunately, the influence of their past as videographers is also felt in the structure of the script, which sometimes takes on the appearance of a succession of sketches.
Vladimir Rodionov delivers a whimsical production, co-written with Romain Lancry, who also stars on screen as Gabriel. Opposite him, Élodie Fontan plays an energetic and authoritative Raphaëlle, in a duo that works wonderfully.
With a fine cast of supporting actors: Julien Pestel, Shirine Boutella, François Berléand, Zabou Breitman, and Simon Astier, the film flirts with the offbeat world of Bruce Almighty, while retaining a distinctly French touch. A tender, slightly crazy pop fiction.
