After a second home win against Wakefield Trinity last Sunday, the Olympians are preparing to face the Huddersfield Giants at their home ground of John Smith’s Stadium this Friday 20 May.
For Sylvain HOULES’ men, Sunday’s victory saw them move closer to Wakefield and Leeds in the standings, now ahead by two and three points respectively.
Two tries from the full-back helped Toulouse earn a vital 20-14 victory over fellow countrymen Wakefield Trinity at the foot of the Super League table.
While Poching doesn’t believe Trinity’s position in the Super League table will slow their progress in the recruitment market, he does know improved form would help convince potential targets to move to Belle Vue.
The victim of the TO is on a series of 5 defeats in a row and our chauvinism would like it to continue. They face Leeds which is a good winning opportunity for Trinity as there won’t be that many throughout the season.
The TO did not lose. After several disappointments at the end of matches, they finally hold their second victory. The match won against the Saints looked like a cup match where the little thumb hit the big one. This victory against Wakefield, penultimate in the standings, is just as significant if not more because it is these kinds of victories that will allow them to maintain themselves.
The challenge for the Olympians is always to move up the rankings in order to get out of the red zone. A new victory could allow the Olympians to return to equality with Wakefield. For the Giants, the goal is to reach the top 3 in the standings by getting closer to Wigan, who to date are 3 points clear.
The last meeting of Toulouse Olympique against the Giants dates back to February 12, during the first Super League match for the Olympians. The latter had been defeated, on their lawn, 14 to 42.
