Teachers are on strike to protest and demonstrate against a new government reform.
After the pension reform, teachers are angry at a new reform proposed by the government « without consultation », this device will apply next September for volunteer teachers, colleges and high schools, including professionals.
Six unions had called on teachers to demonstrate this Wednesday, May 31, 2023, to denounce the deterioration of working conditions.

For the trade unions, the choice to deploy the reforms through pacts risks leading to the « unequal treatment of students in the public education service » with a « multiplied » effect for the professional path « where the Pact is the tool for implementing questionable measures. This is a forced passage on the part of the government, in the same way as for the pension reform which we are still asking for the withdrawal ”.
“Hoping to make us turn the page on pensions, Minister Ndiaye put on the agenda of the Ministerial Social Administration Committee of May 31 the decrees and orders on “revaluation” and the teacher pact” writes the inter-union education . “The “pact” is a device that in no way meets the expectations of colleagues.
