Presidential: Anne Hidalgo still believes it possible to deny the polls

In a meeting at the Cirque d'Hiver in Paris, the socialist candidate affirmed that it is still possible to deny the polls, inviting left-wing voters to support her to achieve this and trying to bring left-wing voters back to their family of origin.

In a meeting at the Cirque d’Hiver in Paris, the socialist candidate affirmed that it is still possible to deny the polls, inviting left-wing voters to support her to achieve this and trying to bring left-wing voters back to their family of origin.

“I would not be a candidate if I had not been mayor of Paris and Paris occupies such a unique place in the life of our country”, she explained first before continuing, “Paris is the city that has grown over the course of its history, French people from all over the world with their accents, their cultures, their know-how, their desire to go to the capital. Here we all know that the hearts of France are beating.

For Anne Hidalgo, Paris is a special city which should serve as an example to France since, “through the action of the united left, with the socialists, the communists, the ecologists, it defends the popular districts, develops social housing and solidarity for the less fortunate.

“I say it, it is a pride to be mayor of Paris”, exclaimed the candidate … for the Presidential.

Still in great difficulty in the polls, the mayor of Paris called on voters on Sunday to vote “according to their hearts and their convictions”.

The culmination of a long way of the cross for the socialist as she will have failed to invite herself in this presidential election. Courtesy would almost prevent recalling the level of his candidacy in the polls (all gauge it between 1.5 and 3%).

The 2000 seats have all found a socialist to sit there. The most hopeless situations always give energy. Two figures of the PS, who were faithful to him from start to finish, despite the chaos, Martine Aubry and Bernard Cazeneuve among the guests. “Martine, you are a source of inspiration, you are my big sister in politics and in friendship”, the candidate flatters her. The room cheers “Martine, Martine! “. Same process with Bernard Cazeneuveet and the former Minister of National Education, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem.

Recalling the attacks she had to face as mayor of Paris, she called for solidarity with Ukraine. “France must help the freedom fighters with all its might,” she said.

For the socialist, it is necessary “to strengthen the sanctions which can weaken the offensive of the dictator (note: Vladimir Putin) and bring him back to reason and to negotiation.”

“Socialists have always worked for Europe, for its independence and for its cohesion. I claim this heritage and I want to continue their historic struggle,” she continued.

After spending long minutes talking about the capital, the candidate gets to the heart of the matter and attacks Emmanuel Macron. “He had promised to reduce the far right, there is no longer one, but two”, she denounces. “Who reduced the ISF (wealth tax)? (….) Who capped industrial tribunal compensation? Who reduced the APL? Who wants to force RSA recipients to work for less than the minimum wage? “Launches Hidalgo again, the room answering him in echo” It’s him! “.

She spoke in particular to voters “who have often trusted us and could say to themselves: what is the point of voting for a party which we know in advance will be eliminated from the race in a week? “. “You who have supported us in the past, you who basically share our values, I know you, and I respect you […] you have left us, but you are family. »

“You may say to yourself, why go back to a left which, in any case, would pass its turn? […] because Macron is on the right! It’s a simple and obvious reality,” she continued.

“If you have left-wing ideas, if you are concerned about social issues, justice, solidarity, ecology, you must know it, Emmanuel Macron does not even calculate you! “, she continued. “Join your family of origin, the left of reality and reason, which recognizes its errors.”

Anne Hidalgo continued her call for a vote for the Socialist Party by imploring voters to beware of the siren songs of the polls which would push them to vote for the candidate of France Insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

“In the immediate future you will vote for a candidate who refuses to help the Ukrainians. A candidate who declared that the danger came from the west when the aggression was looming in the east” considers the candidate of the PS.

A law for young people

“I offer you another future for France. I propose to you the project of a social, European, secular and ecological Republic. France deserves to change its future and it is first of all to believe in our youth and give them the means to succeed”, declared the candidate of the Socialist Party.

It is to youth “that my government will devote its first law. As soon as I am elected, I will table an emergency law for the future of young people, ”promised Anne Hidalgo.

Retirement at 62, not a year longer

“Changing the future also means protecting workers’ retirement,” said Anne Hidalgo, who rejects Emmanuel Macron’s plan to raise the retirement age to 65.

“We are preserving the retirement age, it will be 62, not a year more! And we will allow early departure, at 59, 60 or 61, for those who have worked in difficult jobs.”

The socialist wants a review of the hardship criteria and the setting of a minimum contribution of 1,200 euros net for pensions and 900 euros (75% net minimum) for farmers.
