Finland: a father transgenre was confined

A man born woman stopped his treatment of change of sex to give to birth a baby.

Man for the civil status, a Finn born woman became the first transgenre country to be been confined, brought back Wednesday the local mediums, a all the more exceptional event as the Finnish law requires to be sterile to change sex.

This birth created the controversy in Finland, only Scandinavian country to require those which want to change sex legally, to be sterile.

Under the terms of the Finnish law, a person is held to prove that it is sterile in order to change sex legally. In practice, the centers of care consider that their patients transgenres are de facto made sterile when they underwent a long treatment testosterone.

But if the hormone therapy is suspended, the person can be again fertile, as it is the case with this exceptional birth. “Do I want that the company dictates to me what I can do of my body and my life? Nothing can stop me. I am a free man”, at the time of his pregnancy the man transgenre in a discussion with more the Finnish famous daily newspaper “Helsingin Sanomat had affirmed”.

The man of about thirty year legally changed sex in 2015 after years of treatment testosterone. But it had decided to cancel the supposed surgery of change of sex to complete its physical transition, before trying to have a child with her husband.

Finland is the only Scandinavian country to require those which want to change sex legally to be sterile, which caused critical sharp on behalf of the defense organizations of the human rights these last years. The authorities were pragmatic with respect to the new family, which lives in the area of Helsinki. The father obtained a paternal leave.

In Lannen Media, he entrusted that its pregnancy had proceeded normally in spite of uncertainties of the doctors who were unaware of which could be the consequences of the hormonal treatment which he had undergone. “The two last weeks were very painful and I started to miss patience. But the birth itself occurred very well”, he said.
