Dr. Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi, director of the Emirati Center for Strategic Studies and Research in Abu Dhabi, is the first Emirati and Gulf Country candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature of 2019.
This candidacy is part of the intellectual struggle against Islamist ideas and ideologies that have invaded the world in recent years and threaten societies and human values.
The Nobel Prize is a strong symbol that would shed light on the danger of extremist ideologies.
Several associations as well as academic figures from Europe and the Arab world propose his nomination, defended by more than fifty experts, academics and politicians from Belgium, Italy, Germany, France, Spain and Sweden.
Mr. Nidal Shoukeir, President of the European Press Association of the Arab World, emphasized that the appointment of Mr. Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi to this prestigious International Prize testifies to the real international and European awareness of the need for encourage the mobilization of intellectuals in the face of the threat of these extremist ideologies. He added that « this candidacy for this prestigious International Prize is an important tribute to the author who condemns extremist ideas through his book, and conveys the values and efforts of his country in this context. »
The professor and researcher of Islamic Sciences Ibrahim Laytous of the University of Antwerp also considered that this appointment is a tribute to the role of great thinkers in the face of extremism and terrorism, a major role as evidenced by past experiences.
Jean-Valère Baldacchino, president of the Geopolitical Analysis and Research Circle, considers that « the fact that Professor Suwaidi is nobel is a huge news, especially with his great essay » The Mirage « is a strong message against Islamism, a major scourge of the beginning of the century, and more generally, it is an essayist of rare quality whose writings are among the most important works of current political science. »
« The book » The Mirage « by Dr. Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi, both academic and practical, illustrates the use of thought in contemporary humanitarian issues and contributes to the preservation of human values in society. The author expresses his conviction that the Arab and world conflict against the extremist ideology and its groups and organizations is not limited to the military and security sphere, but that it is a real intellectual war.
Dr. Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi has already received numerous Arab and international awards, including the Sheikh Zayed International Award for Development and State Construction.
