The National Day of Romania is celebrated on 1 st December and this date, established by a law promulgated in 1990, marks an important moment in the history of the Romanians, namely that in which the Great Assembly of Alba Iulia voted in favor of the union of Transylvania and Romania.

December 1st is the national holiday of Romania. It has a special significance for Romanian society and is one of the most important historical events. On December 1, 1918, the National Assembly of Romanians met in Alba Iulia. The work ended with the decision of the unconditional union of Transylvania with Romania and was voted unanimously (this act took place after March 27, 1918 and November 28, 1918, the representative bodies of Bessarabia and of Bucovina voted the union).

The law of the Union was ratified by decree of February 11, 1918 by King Ferdinand and was passed by the Assembly of Deputies at the meeting of December 29, 1919.

4000 soldiers marched under the Arc de Triomphe. The national military parade of December 1st has been prepared in detail because today everything is perfect. And above the Arc de Triomphe, helicopters and planes flew, symbol of the national holiday.

And this year, the National Day of Romania was spectacularly celebrated in the center of the capital, where thousands of people came to celebrate with the army, politicians and President Klaus Iohannis.
At this National Army Day event participating in Afghanistan and Mali, were present at the event with the latest military equipment.

“With the National Day of Romania, we are celebrating this year three decades since the revolution of December 1989. It is a symbolic moment to mark the end, after 30 years, of a difficult stage of our history after December and for new better, take Romania where it seems to be among the countries of the world, “began his speech by President Klaus Iohannis.

“Today, a century after the turn of the Romanian nation and three decades after the revolution of December 1989, we must sincerely admit that we have not yet reached the desired level, but we have not deviated the way our ancestors were sacrificed, despite the attempts of some to divert Romania from its Euro-Atlantic trajectory, “Iohannis said in his speech.

“The union is our party, no matter where we are, I would like the Romanians living today in different parts of the world to return home to find a functioning Romania, a normal country, which will give them the chance to a better future and a decent standard of living for them, I believe that this vision can one day become a reality and that we must above all make it possible, “said President Klaus Iohannis to Romanians living abroad at the occasion of the national holiday.

On the occasion of National Day, President Klaus Iohannis has invested in the position of Chief of the Defense Staff, Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu.

“It was a major decision that gave our country predictability and credibility internationally, while ensuring transparency in the strategic decision-making process.

Today, our country is both a beneficiary and a security provider, with a global vision of international security management.
We have made remarkable progress in the allied context. Thanks to our efforts, the Black Sea region has better visibility and strategic importance for NATO.

Ladies and gentlemen,

At present, the international environment is characterized by the dynamism and accelerated evolution of security problems, particularly in our region, in South-East Europe.
Therefore, for me, as President of Romania, the security and defense of the country is an even more strategic priority and are based on three strong pillars, namely to strengthen the profile of Romania within NATO and of the European Union, as well as the strengthening of the strategic partnership with the United States.
Lieutenant-General Petrescu, resume today the mandate of the Chief of the Defense Staff, an institution that plays the leading role of the Romanian army, and it is your responsibility to continue to ensure the state of readiness of the army for the accomplishment of all its defense missions of the country, “he said Iohannis, in his speech.
