It must be said that Irokazu Kore-eda has become a regular at the festival. It is in competition at Cannes for the 7th time. He received the Palme d’Or in 2018 for “Une Affaire de famille” and the Jury Prize in 2013 for “Tel Père, Tel Fils”. Since 1939, the year the festival was created, Japan has only won 5 Palmes d’Or.
We were also able to attend the climb of the steps for the film “The Return” by Catherine Corsini, in competition – Feature films.
May 17 was also the opening day of Critics’ Week with the ceremony and screening of “Ama Gloria” by Marie Amachokeli. In the Cannes Classics-Copies Restorées selection, we saw “Caligula-The Ultimate Cut”. Finally, the screening of “Laisse-moi” by Maxime Rappaz opened the Acid.
At the beach cinema, we were supposed to screen “Le sens de la Fête” by Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache.
The 5th part of Indiana Jones, “Indiana Jones and the dial of destiny” marked the day of May 18 with the presence of the film crew during the climb of the steps.
