Rugby Union – National Semifinal: US Carcassonne Experiences a True Moment of Glory

US Carcassonne achieved a memorable feat at the Parc des Sports et de l'Amitié (22-40) in the National semifinal.

This Saturday, at the Parc des Sports et de l’Amitié, RC Narbonne hosted US Carcassonne in a celebratory atmosphere. From the moment the players arrived by bus, greeted by smoke bombs and numerous chants, the scene was set.

In the first half, Carcassonne largely dominated Narbonne in all areas of the game, scoring three classy tries from Puletua, Egiziano, and Pichon. Three-quarter-length tries, something we haven’t seen from Carcassonne this season.

Carcassonne appeared impregnable and creative. On the other side, Racing proved very disappointing and unable to mount a solid defense.

Fortunately for the orange and black, Timani woke up in the 17th minute to score a powerful try. At the start of the second half, Narbonne returned to the pitch with better intentions. But the penalty in favor of RCN dampened all their enthusiasm.

The Carcassonne fans didn’t wait for the final whistle before chanting « We’re in the final, we’re in the final. » A burst of joy filled the south corner. The yellow and black sprinted to join their loyal supporters gathered behind the in-goal area, and a few at the far end of the Clape stand.

While the vast majority of the USC players leaped like kangaroos, throwing themselves into each other’s arms like lovers, Etienne Herjean, Romain Manchia, and Valentin Sese showed their class. The three former members of the Narbonne team cheered the Narbonne men on before celebrating and realizing what they had just accomplished.

USC reached its final (22-40 victory). A final and an achievement.

The 8,499 spectators roared during this match marked by the realism and fine tries of the Carcassonne team, who won this match by a score of 40 to 22.

Carcassonne will face Chambéry, the winner of Rouen, in the National final at the Parc des Sports in Narbonne on May 17 (7 p.m.).
