ANIMAL EXPO: the “pet and well-being” trade show

The largest show in France dedicated to pets and their well-being, it is the unmissable event which presents animals and welcomes more than 40,000 visitors over 2 days, for more than 30 years.

The Animal Expo 2023 show takes place on September 30 and October 1, 2023 at the Parc Floral in Paris.

Purebred dogs, exceptional cats, rodents, fish, reptiles, but also puppies, kittens, rabbits… meet you for two days punctuated by different activities with dog sports demonstrations, conferences and positive education advice and captivating encounters between enthusiasts, but also toys of all kinds, accessories and kibble stands for your pet. A weekend not to be missed!

Animal Expo does not respect the animal welfare charter

The event organized this Saturday and Sunday at the Paris Floral Park does not respect, according to the Paris Animaux Zoopolis (PAZ) association, the animal welfare charter established by the town hall.

A year and a half later, the Animal Expo pet sales show was held this weekend. As usual, animals were exhibited and sold as simple merchandise.

In July 2021, the Paris Council adopted the “animal welfare” charter, which must apply to all activities using animals in Paris, which prohibits the sale of live animals.

PAZ demonstrated to denounce the holding of this ludicrous show. While pet abandonments are massive and shelters are overwhelmed, clients were spoiled for choice in species and breeds: dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles and fish were presented in large numbers.

Contrary to what Christophe Najdovski said on X (ex Twitter), we noticed that animals were well sold at the show.

The dogs were exhibited in small enclosures. The law against animal abuse of November 2021 requires, for any purchase or adoption of a dog or cat, to sign a certificate of knowledge 7 days before the purchase or adoption. Animal Expo had everything planned: the document to be completed is highlighted on their site and no verification of the authenticity of the signature date is planned, denounces PAZ.

PAZ filmed a breeder putting a snake in the hand of a little girl: “he explains to her that the snake is terrified because there are a lot of noises and that it has been handled a lot since this morning.”

Animal Expo prohibits visitors from bringing their pets because the noise, smells of animals and food could overstimulate them and make them nervous. We wonder what happens to the exposed animals.

PAZ calls for an end to pet sales fairs

Because animals are neither toys nor merchandise, abandonments are massive and shelters are overwhelmed, and animals that are impossible to take care of properly are sold, we urgently ask Paris City Hall to act on the wish of April 2021 and no longer authorize the holding of pet sales shows.
