The 25th edition of PAD (Paris Art Design) is being held at the Jardin des Tuileries (75001) in Paris from March 29 to April 2, 2023. The British edition will be held in London from October 10 to 15.

What is the CSA?

The first Design fair created in 1998, the PAD (Paris -Art-Design) is an unmissable event for international Design collectors. This fair, which brings together the best international and French galleries of Historical and Contemporary Design, has become the most important thanks to its 25 years of existence. However, we noted the absence of 2 editions during the pandemic.

Each edition, in a renewed decor, evolves and discerns aesthetic and plastic aspirations, offering the best of Design to visitors.

The diversity of the art of decorating an interior and the specificity of combining historical and contemporary styles are the main assets for discovering sleek furniture with geometric lines, as well as colorful chairs or extraordinary sofas.

An edition full of novelties

The PAD brings together major galleries accustomed to the event such as the Carpenters Workshop Gallery, (75004), Kreo (75006) or Maniera (Brussels-Belgium) but also new French and foreign exhibitors including Mass Modern Design, Dutch gallery in Roosendaal created by Etienne Feijns, which highlights furniture and objects from the 20th century.

Nans Bouchet presents at the Nans Design gallery in St Ouen (93400) furniture from the 1980s, which has become his passion for ten years, in line with the philosophy of the gallery: « A head of trend (at the front keeping trends).

Founded in 2022, the Romain Morandi gallery (75006) exhibits modern and contemporary furniture, from the end of the 19th century to the present day, promoting young artists. An exhibition on chess bringing together objects from the 20th century inaugurated the place. There are pieces signed by couturier Pierre Cardin, architect Zaha Haddid and Vasarely.

The Dumonteil gallery (75007), specialized in modern and contemporary art since 1982, but also present at fairs in London, New York, Shanghai or Singapore, introduces artists of tomorrow and celebrities of the 20th century.

Interested in animal art and its interpretation, she exhibits works by Hubert Le Gall and Jean-Marie Fiori for bestiary furniture; Eric Pillot, Jean-Claude Meynard and Ruben Fuentes for photographs; Marcel Derny for sandstone pieces and Daniel Daviaud for his bronzes, some of which are life-size.

In 2019, she devoted an exhibition to 2 contemporary artists: the Chinese JiJung Meng and the French resident in China Vincent Cazeneuve. (Wensen Qi).

Present at the PAD Paris for several years, the Dumonteil gallery presented several works by Daniel Daviau including the hedgehog, the meerkats, a small elephant or the mouflon bench.

Daniel Daviau, a new look at the animal world

Daniel Daviau is a French sculptor born in 1962 in Sarlat (24), representing the animal world through his bronze creations.

A graduate of the Professional School of Sculpture in Pau, he continued his studies in modeling and sculpture in Paris and devoted himself to the animal world, particularly endangered species.

A new path, bronze

After working in wood, he decided to specialize in bronze to represent animals in humorous positions through the work and patina of bronze. Considered a representative of the ancient Animaliers family and an heir of François Pompon (1855-1933) known for his sleek animal sculptures.

Rewards

Vice-president of the national exhibition of animal artists since 2001, he has also received numerous awards, including the Sandoz prize in 2000; the gold medal for sculpture from the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 2013 and more recently the Andreï-Graec prize from the Taylor Foundation in 2022, intended for French sculptors under the age of 52, whose work is related to the traditional French school.

Internationally renowned, he exhibits and has collectors all over the world (New York, Shanghai, Beijing, Washington, Paris, London, Geneva, Milan, Brussels, Moscow, Miami and Palm Beach). He has also been present in museums and international fairs since 1992 (PAD Paris, Armory Show, New York, Masterpiece London, Fine Art Fair in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Big dates

Since 2011, thanks to his success, Daniel Daviau has been working on private collections and works for foundations and cultural sites in China.

In 2015, the USA dedicated a personal exhibition to him in New York.

In 2020, the town hall of the 1st arrondissement is organizing an exhibition to raise public awareness of the disappearance of rhinos. A huge animal is presented at Place du Louvre from January 15 to February 15.
