After his retirement, Thierry Mugler worked as Beyoncé’s artistic advisor, notably in the design of the costumes for her world tour « I Am…Sasha Fierce ». « Rest in peace, Thierry Mugler, » wrote the American singer on the home page of her site, in a black and white photo of a smiling Thierry Mugler.

The actress Kristin Davis, alias Charlotte in the series Sex and the City published in her Instagram story a quote from the designer as a tribute: “I made my own clothes because I was looking for something that did not exist. I had to try to create my own world”.
Born in Strasbourg in December 1948, Thierry Mugler arrived in Paris at the age of 20 and then created his own label « Café de Paris » in 1973, before founding the company « Thierry Mugler » a year later. Its structured and sophisticated silhouettes quickly imposed themselves.
A director at heart, he had organized spectacular public presentations of his creations. He had also embarked on the creation of perfumes, his “Angel” model experiencing great success.
It had been on display since September at an exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris entitled “Thierry Mugler, Couturissime”, designed by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA).
