Held from 24 to 28 June 2026 in Kuala Terengganu, the Terengganu International Bike Week (TIBW) 2026 welcomed thousands of riders and visitors from Malaysia and abroad. Blending motorcycles, tourism, culture and entertainment, the event once again demonstrated why it has become one of Southeast Asia's leading motorcycle festivals.

KUALA TERENGGANU – From 24 to 28 June 2026, the city of Kuala Terengganu once again became the meeting point for motorcycle enthusiasts from across Malaysia and abroad as the Terengganu International Bike Week (TIBW) 2026 returned for another successful edition. More than a traditional motorcycle gathering, the five-day festival combined tourism, culture, entertainment and community engagement, reinforcing Terengganu’s growing reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s leading motorcycle tourism destinations.

Organised by Tourism Terengganu, the event highlighted the state’s ambition to position itself as an international destination capable of hosting large-scale lifestyle and tourism festivals. While motorcycles remained the heart of the celebration, the programme extended far beyond automotive culture, offering visitors an immersive experience showcasing the heritage, hospitality and traditions of Malaysia’s east coast.

Thousands of riders gathered in Kuala Terengganu

Throughout the festival, Dataran Shahbandar welcomed thousands of riders representing motorcycle clubs, independent travellers and enthusiasts from across the country.

Organisers targeted around 15,000 motorcycle participants, including approximately 5,000 officially registered riders and 10,000 additional participants, reflecting the event’s increasing popularity within the regional motorcycle community.

The atmosphere throughout the five-day festival reflected the strong sense of friendship that has become synonymous with TIBW. Visitors had the opportunity to discover hundreds of motorcycles, exchange experiences with riders from different countries and enjoy a programme designed for both enthusiasts and families.

An increasingly international event

One of the defining features of the 2026 edition was its growing international participation.

Motorcyclists travelled from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and even the United States, while Japanese participation was also under consideration. The Thai delegation alone arrived with around 200 motorcycles, making it one of the largest international groups attending the event.

This international presence highlighted the increasing importance of cross-border motorcycle tourism throughout Southeast Asia. For many participants, the festival represented more than a destination—it became part of a longer journey exploring Malaysia’s scenic coastal roads and cultural attractions.

More than a motorcycle festival

Although motorcycles remained the main attraction, TIBW 2026 successfully expanded its appeal by offering a wide range of activities designed for visitors of all ages.

Among the most popular additions was the Coffee Festival, bringing together local and international coffee entrepreneurs who introduced visitors to Malaysia’s growing café culture. This new feature broadened the event’s audience while promoting local businesses and producers.

The Malaysian Armed Forces Survivor Village also attracted significant public interest. Interactive exhibitions, survival demonstrations and military displays gave families and tourists an opportunity to experience another dimension of the festival, while amphibious demonstrations and equipment exhibitions added a spectacular element to the programme.

Celebrating Malaysian culture

Beyond the motorcycle displays, visitors enjoyed a rich programme celebrating the cultural identity of Terengganu.

Traditional performances, War Dance demonstrations and cultural exhibitions highlighted the heritage of the region, allowing international guests to experience local traditions alongside modern entertainment.

Each evening, the festival’s main stage featured performances by some of Malaysia’s best-known artists, including Dato’ Awie, Black Hanifah, Apex Tajudin and Bito, creating a lively atmosphere that extended well beyond the motorcycle community.

The programme also included a special religious lecture by renowned Islamic scholar Ustaz Azhar Idrus, reflecting the organisers’ desire to present a festival that embraced both cultural diversity and community values.

Supporting tourism and the local economy

According to the organisers, the festival was expected to attract around 90,000 visitors over its five-day programme, generating significant economic activity for hotels, restaurants, retailers, tourism operators and local businesses throughout Terengganu.

Beyond the immediate financial impact, TIBW also served as a long-term promotional platform for the state. Many visitors extended their stay to explore Terengganu’s beaches, fishing villages, cultural landmarks and scenic coastal routes, strengthening the region’s image as one of Malaysia’s most attractive travel destinations.

A growing reference in Southeast Asia

The success of the 2026 edition confirmed that the Terengganu International Bike Week has evolved into much more than a motorcycle rally.

By combining motorcycles with tourism, cultural heritage, gastronomy, live entertainment and family-friendly activities, the festival has created a distinctive identity that appeals to a broad international audience. It also demonstrates how motorcycle events can become powerful drivers of tourism promotion, regional cooperation and local economic development.

As Southeast Asia continues to experience strong growth in motorcycle tourism, Terengganu has successfully positioned itself among the region’s leading destinations. The 2026 edition once again proved that the passion for motorcycles can serve as a bridge between cultures, bringing together thousands of visitors while showcasing the beauty, hospitality and traditions of Malaysia to the world.
