School world championship of Country Cross-country race

Paris organizes the school world championship of Country Cross–country race which gathers 650 young people of the whole world. It is held from April 2nd to April 6th on the Champ de Mars.

Organized by the International federation of the school sport (STF) and the National union of the school Sport (ONES), 650 young people coming from 30 countries of the 5 continents will clash at the bottom of “Dame de Fer”.

The opening ceremony proceeded on April 3rd at the Stage Pierre de Coubertin in the presence of many sportsmen, Ladji Dacouré, Maeva Danois, Nafissatou Thiam and Nantenin Keita. The project “Paris 2024 “mobilized thus more than 600 young people for the organization of this first school worldwide organization of the cross–country race 2018.

For Jean–François Martins, assistant of the mayor of Paris in charge of tourism, sport and Olympic and paralympic Games, “the cross–country race country is the discipline headlight of the school sport, most practised by all the generations”. A participation ever reached so far makes it possible to hope for an increase in the vocations of the young people from the Île–de–France invited of the test at the village of animation and on the course.

To date, 250,000 runners practise the cross–country race country within the ONES during the final stage of the championship of France. 130 tests brought together the 250,000 bachelors from October to December 2017 and on January 20th, the champion of France Renaud Lavillenie encouraged the 2,500 bachelors present in Toulouse for the championship from France to Toulouse.

In parallel, the town hall of Paris and the Ile de France region offered to the participants a visit of the capital and its museums from the Seine out of water–buses. A village of animations was installed.

On April 5th, a caritative dinner at the Petit Palais, museum of Beautiful arts of the town of Paris, whose funds will go for youth African and world was organized in order to support education by the sport in the world. They are famous chiefs like Juan Arbalaez, Amandine Chaignot who carried it out.

During this evening, a convention was signed between the Foundation Samuel Eto‘o and School Sport Foundation (SSF). A calendar of actions over the 5 next years was also presented, around 3 axes: participation in the events of the International federation of the School Sport, given of school purses, access has the formation and development of competences via the sport. An E auction was organized and the funds will go to 2 foundations, Eto‘ O and the SSF.
The evening was preceded by a cocktail with personalities and partners institutional and deprived.
