Rugby League: Toulouse Olympique win against Swinton after a close match

Toulouse relied on their reserves to secure a precious victory in Carcassonne against Swinton yesterday.

Toulouse relied on their reserves to secure a precious victory in Carcassonne against Swinton yesterday.

Toulouse Olimpique faced the Swinton Lions without their usual charm and the first period was very complicated. Swinton opened the scoring early in the game with a well-balanced counterattack.

For an hour, Toulouse crashed into Swinton’s defensive wall

In the sweltering heat, the Olympians struggled to get into the match and the first 10 minutes, the Swintons were very eye-catching, they played on the edge of consistency. The latter led (6 – 0) in the 8th minute of play, after the exit of Dimitri BISCARRO, injured in the knee.

The Toulouse then break their teeth for long minutes on the opposing defense, after the exit of BISCARRO, for almost 30 minutes and the yellow card received by Sitaleki Akauola, and leaves his partners at 12.

Robin Brochon will finally unlock the counter in the 35th minute of play, bring the score back to (4 – 6), the score will not move until the break.

The start of the second match is also complicated for Toulouse. Despite being at 13 against 13 again, the Olympians could not find any solution to go ahead before the hour mark. It was Joe Bretherton who finally found the opening in the 62nd minute to put his team in front . Robin Brochon does not convert, 8-6.

During the last quarter of an hour, the Toulousains unrolled and scored 3 tries with the double of Robin Brochon and the achievements of Maxime Stefani as well as Sitaleki Akauola.
Roby’s yellow card for the Lions is anecdotal. Toulouse Olympique took the two points of victory with a 26-06 success.

Sylvain Houlès was not really tender towards the opponent, even a little upset. “We failed because we played against a team that does not play in the spirit. It slows down the downs. Swinton plays anti-rugby. Fortunately, my players have found solutions. Honestly, we suffered.”

Toulouse Olympique lined up a fourth consecutive success and consolidated a little more than second place. This success is just waiting to be confirmed next Saturday, in Albi this time, against Barrow.
