Personalities more present than ever at Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week for women is the most anticipated fashion event of the year. It is held twice a year, in February and September, to unveil the women’s and men’s Haute Couture and ready-to-wear fashion collections as well as accessories. The collections for the following fall-winter are presented at the end of winter, while those for spring-summer show at the end of summer.

Fashion week is an event also present in many major cities around the world, the most famous of which are New York, Paris, London and Milan. New other cities are organizing their own fashion weeks such as Tokyo, Istanbul or Sao Paulo, without forgetting the increasingly famous newcomers, such as Copenhagen, Seoul or Lagos.

Paris

In Paris, the program takes place over 9 days during which the major fashion houses and designers present their ready-to-wear collections, fashion shows and modernized shows. This year, the event, which makes Paris the capital of fashion, was held from February 26 to March 5, 2024. It is an opportunity to discover new trends, whether in the streets, pop -up stores which make the French capital “The place to be” during these 9 days, or even at the foot of the podiums of the big houses,

Each season, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode publishes a calendar of fashion shows that fashionitas don’t forget to note in their diaries. It brings together all the players in the event (buyers, photographers, journalists, influencers and creators). Big names like Dior, Yves St-Laurent, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Michael Kors, Givenchy, Stella Mc Cartney and others but also young designers are present as they are every year. Among the latter, we could distinguish Aelis, couture ambassador of the ideals of ecology and respect for the rights of nature and gender equality, who expresses a message through the creation of ART-to-Wear Couture models. In her collection, artistic director Sofia Crociani places clothing in a biological cycle and upcycling that respects the planet.

The parades

You can attend the fashion shows in different locations, chosen according to the wishes of the brands or designers. Chanel generally chooses the Grand Palais while Dior presents its collections at the Tuileries or the Rodin Museum. Louis Vuitton rather chose the Cour Carée of the Louvre. With guests attending several fashion shows on the same day, the center of Paris is more targeted in order to restrict travel. We generally find ourselves in appropriate neighborhoods such as the Marais, Concorde, Palais Royal, Trocadéro or St-Germain-des-Prés, but sometimes also in the Parisian suburbs.

To participate, you must be invited as a creator or buyer of international department stores, prestigious multi-brand boutiques or luxury sites. The first rows are reserved for the best clients, friends of the house, stars, influencers and fashion journalists. However, there are 2 conditions: Have a legal structure and have marketed at least one of its collections.

Haute Couture Fashion Week

As with ready-to-wear, Haute Couture Fashion Week takes place twice a year, in January for the spring-summer collections and in September for the fall-winter collections. Each session brings together around thirty fashion houses to parade exceptional creations, thus showing artisanal know-how. Each collection is a showcase and is not produced in large numbers, made to measure and on demand (color, length, ornament). The Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2024/2025 fashion week will take place in Paris from June 24 to 27, 2024.
