Julia Paris’s favorite covers

For this purpose, she does not think of making a music video on these covers. Despite this, the feedback is very positive.

Julia Paris takes up titles of big names in French song that she loves and that make you want to hum while listening to them.

His history

At barely 24 years old, Julia Paris is an author, performer and producer. Her studies at the Education House of the Legion of Honor, Louis Legrand and Sciences Po did not predestine her to music. However, her musical knowledge (singing, harp and guitar) and her taste for writing pushed her towards French song with texts. Her influences come from her adolescence because she grew up to the sound of the French variety of the 1970s. Her father having lived in the United States, country also inspires her style. The freedom of France Gall and the lightness of François Hardy mark his compositions.

his beginnings

2017 is the year that brings his first musical show to the stage. The “Comédie des Champs-Elysées” welcomes “Edith Piaf between France and America”. This first experience led her to write texts for artists like Louane or Arcadian.

The following year, Alain Delon asked him to declaim one of his songs to music by Rick Allison. He chooses “I love only you” among the 10 proposed texts. For the record, she had met the actor during the show on Piaf, of which he was to be the godfather.

After this experience, she decides to interpret her own songs. She created her label, “Productions Liberté” in 2019 and worked on her voice with a vocal coach, Zoé Gilbert.

A new adventure

2020 is the year of a new start and success despite the Covid period which is hitting the world. In January, she released an eponymous 4-track EP, in collaboration with composers Rick Alisson and Yacine Azeggagh. His single “Fugue en Italie” accompanied by Yacine Azeggagh is available on streaming platforms from April, in the midst of a health crisis. The adventure is doubled by a motion design clip produced by graphic designers Marie Kawczynski and Antoine Chassin.

During the summer, Julia Paris performs on prestigious stages including that of the Citadel of St Tropez for the “Rosé Day”. The first album “En Vol” is the gift of the new school year, it contains the single “Il suffirait de rien”. Emmanuel Scorcelletti makes a black and white clip of it.

A new path following the re-containment

With her experience on stage, she had planned several dates to defend her album. Unfortunately the Covid decided otherwise, the dates being deleted and the rooms closed. She resumed writing for new titles but began to write a book.

It was then that the idea of covers appeared. His choice is on songs that are close to his heart. “It’s always easier to record her alone with a pre-recorded tape, in her home studio without arranging her vocals afterwards. The singer stays true to herself by reflecting her simplicity and professionalism. She gives to her audience. the desire to sing. She offers songs that she liked very much on the scheme of her show “Edith Piaf, entre France et Amérique”. These covers will allow you to rediscover songs that you tend to forget until ‘we hear them again.

The main guideline is to “show something real and natural on songs you like to get people to sing”. Today, people are self-conscious about singing, fearing the eyes of others or not being taken seriously.

How is Julia Paris different from other singers of her generation?

Julia Paris was “lucky to have people around her who instilled in her a taste for reading, listening to songs, and discovering beautiful things”. She had a “mental structuring” which allowed her to apprehend things “and to be able to write what she feels and transmit her feelings.” In song, we have 3 minutes to convince unlike a book which has hundreds of pages “. On streaming platforms, the proposed musical introduction must be very good.”

Julia’s songs are created with the aim of appealing to those who listen to them and of remembering previously known songs. She works “as we did in the 60s, 70s, 80s, ie with different trades: a composer, a lyricist, an arranger, a mixer and a performer”. “It’s a return to the human and organic dimension of music which makes a song a song”.

“The harmonization of all these skills gives timeless things that we can still listen to today as quality songs”.

We can compare the creation of songs to a craft and “Haute Couture”. “To achieve something original, new, beautiful and professional, it takes time, just like luxury,”. His songs are “Haute Couture songs compared to what can be released today from some labels and high productions. They take pre-recorded sounds and edit them differently. This is” more. a work of computer scientist than of musician and creator. ”It is for all these reasons that Julia Paris is different.

The concept of covers

Since June 1, Julia Paris offers every Tuesday a new cover available only on YouTube.

To carry out this project, Julia approached Tency Music and the Version Karaoké site. It is a gift to the people who follow Julia. However, there will be no album as it may exploit the music tapes only for non-commercial purposes.

The singer has “always defended the music and the image”, finding that they are “2 things really associated”. But the problem with outputting a clip is interpretation. “Everyone has their own idea of what they see and what they hear.” She therefore does not want to impose her vision on the titles chosen. “Every song is always associated with something”. For this purpose, she does not think of making a music video on these covers. Despite this, the feedback is very positive.

What plans for the future?

Julia knows how to surround herself with the right people, but she does everything from A to Z, it is a “team management”. When she works with someone, she works with him for his knowledge and skills and owes him her trust. “Alone we go faster but together, we go further”, here is a sentence that must be kept in mind.

Regarding the financing of her projects, Julia struggles to find sponsors, which is not easy. Unfortunately, she created her label in October 2019 but she was unable to make a profit following the health crisis. SACEM is based on the companies that have reported to it to distribute its aid.

If the scheduled scenes had taken place, there would have been no problem making other productions. She regrets that France does not have a program like in Scandinavia which provides remuneration to the entertainment world.

For the moment, Julia is concentrating on writing texts and her book. She hopes that things will get back to normal and do several scenes as soon as possible.
