Homage to Xavier Jugelé, one year after his death on the Champs-Elysées

A homage was paid to Xavier Jugelé, this Friday on the “ChampsÉlysées by the president of the Republic and the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, one year after the death of the police officer, was killed at the time of a terrorist attack. A commemorative plaque was revealed.

On April 20th, 2017, a French Jihadist drew on a police van parked on the “ChampsÉlysées, concerning mortally the police officer Xavier Jugelé.
Xavier Jugelé had been killed at the wheel of a police van parked in front of the cultural Institute of Turkey on April 20th, 2017, by the shootings of a French Jihadist, Karim Cheurfi, taken again some 39 years justice. Two other police officers had been wounded and the responsibility for attack had been claimed shortly after by the Islamic State group (EI).

The president of the Republic Emmanuel Macron and the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo laid a wreath this Friday in tribute to police officer, and revealed a commemorative plaque, on which these words are registered: in memory of captain of police Xavier Jugelé, assassinated in this place on April 20th, 2017, victim of terrorism in the achievement of its duty.

Xavier Jugelé had been high on a purely posthumous basis with the rank of captain of police and fact chevalier of the Legion of Honour, during a national homage organized in Paris a few days after the attack.

Emmanuel Macron gave the chivalric insignias of the National order of the Merit to the five teammates of Xavier Jugelé, before observing a minute of silence. He also discussed long minutes with the family of the police officer, behaviour to the variation: the mom of Xavier Jugelé, but also his husband, Etienne Cardiles: It is really a test for us all, but this ceremony is sober and reasonable as we wished, he briefly declared.
