When 2 animals from different races and backgrounds meet, the success of their exchanges is not always guaranteed, it is without counting on the actress and director Reem Kherici who wanted to make a childhood dream come true, to make the animals talk animals.
Reem Khercy loves animals, she transmits her passion through this film released in theaters on February 14, Valentine’s Day. His film is a mix of action and comedy, carried with humor by Philippe Lacheau, Franck Dubosc and of course Reem Khercy. Inès Reg and Artur are the voices of Diva and ChiChi. To carry out this project which began in 2013, she had to write, direct and be a performer; the hardest part was mixing the shots and the computer-generated images.
Members of Philippe Lacheau’s Fifi band team decided to help him carry out the project that was close to his heart. It was not an easy task since we had to create virtual animals. With 1 year of pre-production, filming time and 2 years of post-production to bring the film to fruition based on the own experience of Reem Kherci and her cat Diva. Indeed, there was a close relationship with her animal that she considered her best friend. Animals are sincere beings, a quality that she loves above all in them.
It took time to bring the animals to life and create them from scratch (skeletons, muscles, hair, fat, etc.). Diva is a big cat, a Maine coon and ChiChi is her opposite, a Labrador puppy who has all the opposite characters to Diva (pretentious/humble, immature/mature, clumsy/elegant….). Despite everything, he is very cute and endearing.
Synopsis
Diva, famous cat star of social networks and Chichi, street dog, lose their respective masters. So begins a crazy journey between Montreal and New York with on one side humans who have lost track of their animals and on the other, animals left to their own devices to find their masters…
Monica (Reem Khercy), Diva’s mistress, meets at the airport Jack, (Franck Dubosc) a thief and his dog who has just swallowed the loot, a ruby… The airline requires the animals which escape from their cage and the luggage cart. Witnesses behind the window, the owners embark on a road trip against time between Montreal and New York, to find their animals. The latter, for their part, try to find their master. The two duos are pursued by the police officer Brandt (Philippe Lacheau), ready to do anything to recover the ruby.
Who is Reem Khercy?
Of French-Italian-Tunisian origin, Reem Khercy was born in Neuilly sur Seine. Having started on Fun Radio, she then joined the Bande à Fifi (Philippe Lacheau). We notice her in “Le Grand Journal” by Michel Denisot then we find her in successful comedies like the second part of “Aventures d’OSS 117”, “Neuilly sa Mère!”, “Fatal” or “Bienvenue à bord” . As a director, she released her first feature film “Paris à tout prix”. on July 17, 2013. She played a Parisian stylist on the rise who had to return to Tunisia because of an expired residence permit. It was at this time that the idea of “Dog and Cat” came to her.
Canada in the background
This comedy, putting a dog and a cat facing a comical situation. is an illustration of the bonds that unite humans and animals. She takes us to Canada to follow the adventures of ChiChi and Diva. Reem Khercy lived in Canada where she was able to cross a frozen lake on a snowmobile, this experience inspired her to bring her images with her to France and stage them.
“Dog and Cat” is an entertaining comedy, full of humor and gags, for the whole family and those who love animals. Diva and ChiChi are very endearing.
