The 79th edition of the Festival de Cannes has once again transformed the French Riviera into the center of global cinema. Actors, filmmakers, producers and models from across the world gathered in Cannes to celebrate international filmmaking through screenings, premieres and red-carpet appearances.
Throughout the city, the atmosphere reflects the diversity of contemporary cinema. Asian, European and American actors are sharing the spotlight during a festival that continues to unite cultures and cinematic visions under one international platform.
Across eleven days, Cannes presents films in multiple official sections, including Competition, Un Certain Regard, Out of Competition, Cannes Première, Special Screenings, Cannes Classics, La Cinef and the Short Film Competition. Each section offers audiences a unique perspective on modern filmmaking and storytelling.
Among the first productions to capture attention on the Croisette was NAGI NOTES, whose cast members Shizuka Ishibashi and Takako Matsu appeared on the red carpet and during an official photocall attended by international media.
In the Un Certain Regard section, QUELQUES MOTS D’AMOUR drew strong interest thanks to the presence of Hafsia Herzi, Aïdan Djouadi, Rudi Rosenberg and Nour Salam, who promoted the film during photo sessions and press appearances.
French cinema also played a major role in this year’s festival selections. The cast of L’ABANDON, including Antoine Reinartz and Emmanuelle Bercot, walked the red carpet alongside fellow cast members during one of the festival’s most anticipated appearances.
Another major moment came with LA VIE D’UNE FEMME, directed by Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet. The film brought together acclaimed French performers including Léa Drucker, Mélanie Thierry and Charles Berling on the Croisette.
The Cannes Classics section also attracted attention with L’ÂGE D’OR, featuring appearances from Souheila Yacoub and Vassili Schneider, highlighting the festival’s continued connection between contemporary cinema and film heritage.
International productions remained central to the festival’s identity with EL DESHIELO (THAW) by Manuela Martelli. Actors Jakub Gierszal, Saskia Rosendahl, Maya O’Rourke and Maia Rae Domagala joined the official photocall and red-carpet presentations.
Hollywood personalities also energized the festival during the Special Screenings section. Seth Rogen, Samira Wiley, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sugar Lyn Beard and Abbi Jacobson attended the premiere and press conference for TANGLES, drawing major international media coverage.
May 14 became one of the festival’s most dynamic days, with actors from around the globe participating in premieres, interviews, photocalls and press conferences. More than a celebration of glamour, Cannes 2026 continues to confirm its role as a major international meeting point for artistic exchange and cinematic creativity.
