“Black Terror” launches the fourth edition of the Africas Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival

The film is based on Richard Wesley's 1971 play "Black Terror", presented at the Public Theater at the New York Shakespeare Festival and for which he received a Drama Desk Award in 1972.

Richard Lawson, director and Tina Knowles-Lawson, executive producer came to present their latest feature film “Black Terror” at the 76th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival.

The Franco-Guinean actress Aïssatou DIALLO SAGNA was the godmother of this edition of the Africa Pavilion 2023.

“Black Terror” tells the story of a group of black freedom fighters defending their community by any means possible. Richard Lawson and Tina Knowles-Lawson through their adaptation highlight the sacrifices that black Americans have undergone in order to free themselves from slavery, racism, the yoke of whites. This release is still not acquired to this day, almost 50 years later. Segregation still resists.

The film “Black Terror” launched this new edition during this presentation evening on May 23rd. This evening was organized with the help of many people such as Karine Barclais, creator of the Africa Pavilion, Alizé Utteryn, founder at AlizéLaVie Magazine & AlizéLaVie Média, Hina Zoromé, Cultural Ambassador.

Karine Barclais, creator of the Africa Pavilion absolutely wants to promote the richness of African cinema from 54 countries. It wants to promote African cinema and create bridges and opportunities on the World Film Market during the Cannes Film Festival. Karine Barclais founded Le Pavillon Afriques in 2019.

The actresses and actors of the film “Black Terror”. Tobias Truvillion, Michelle Morgan Truvillion, Terryl Daluz, Henri Franklin and other actors, actresses such as Codou Olivia, Nallah Sangaré, Maia Modeste, Youssouf BA, Nia Miranda, Dan Sluijizer, creators such as Issa Sorogo de Soro Bis, Frédéric Tranquille from Dawax, personalities from the world of cinema, fashion… All of them had come to attend this evening of presentation of the film “Black Terror” by Richard Lawson, director and Tina Knowles-Lawson.

Claudy Dubois-Michaux, from Champagne du Rédempteur, contributed to the party while Mika Mendes, kizomba singer set the mood.
