A sold-out Paris premiere signals the arrival of a new filmmaker
On May 26, Paris witnessed one of the most surprising cinematic events of the year. More than 2,800 people gathered at the iconic Grand Rex for the premiere of “WHO,” the first feature film directed by Guadeloupean content creator and filmmaker Wil Aime.
Seven years after stepping away from social media, Aime returned not through YouTube or Facebook, but through a full-length psychological thriller designed for both cinema audiences and streaming platforms.
The response was extraordinary. Hundreds of meters of queues surrounded the Grand Rex as fans, media representatives and public figures attended the highly anticipated premiere.
“WHO” is a 130-minute psychological thriller built around a deceptively simple premise. Nine criminals discover that one of them has been arrested. The only possible explanation is that a traitor is sitting among them.
From that moment, the story evolves into a tense exploration of suspicion, betrayal and survival. Alliances collapse, paranoia grows and every character becomes a potential threat.
What makes the film particularly compelling is its intricate narrative design. Wil Aime has built his reputation through complex digital storytelling filled with twists and hidden clues. In “WHO,” he successfully transfers those skills to a cinematic format.
The achievement becomes even more impressive when considering that the film was produced independently by a team of only seven people over several years.
Audience reactions during the Paris premiere included applause, laughter and emotional responses throughout the screening, confirming the strong connection between the filmmaker and his audience.
Supported by Pathé and released on Disney+ on May 30, “WHO” represents more than a successful debut feature. It may serve as a blueprint for a new generation of digital creators seeking to enter the film industry while maintaining artistic independence.
With “WHO,” Wil Aime proves that the future of cinema may emerge from unexpected places — including the digital platforms where millions first discovered his storytelling talent.
