A few hours before the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Emmanuel Macron received the leaders and representatives of foreign countries present in the capital for the occasion at the Élysée Palace.

The reception begins at 5:15 p.m. in the main courtyard of the Élysée Palace. Emmanuel Macron and his wife received several monarchs: the Sovereign Prince of Monaco, Albert II, Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg and his wife Maria Teresa Mestre, as well as Princess Astrid of Belgium who is also an honorary member of the management committee of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Several Presidents and heads of government will also be present. These include the British Prime Minister and his Slovenian counterpart, as well as the Presidents of the Federal Republic of Germany, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and the President of Iceland. Two governors accompanied by their wives are also among the guests: the one from Australia and the one from Canada.

Representatives of international organizations such as the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Paralympic Committee (ICP) will also be there, like Tony Estanguet, the President of the Organizing Committee of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It is together that leaders and crowned heads went, via the rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, to the Place de la Concorde, to see the parade of the 4,400 athletes and 168 delegations present for the Paralympic Games.

Orchestrated by artistic director Thomas Jolly, the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games has not yet revealed all its secrets. But the organizers have promised « the same ambition » as the ceremony of the Olympic Games on July 26, acclaimed worldwide.
