The traditional ceremony to inaugurate the Christmas lights took place this Sunday evening, November 19, in the presence of the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo and Gilles Lellouche, sponsor of the edition.
This year’s illuminations were designed on the theme of “Let’s make Paris shine”, with colors in shades of champagne, to recall those of the Eiffel Tower.
A show by Sadeck Berrabah was held at nightfall before a speech by Gilles Lellouche. The actor and director expressed his honor at being named a publishing patron.
Anne Hidalgo also addressed the crowd who came to watch the illuminations on the Champs-Élysées. “A moment that will allow us to bring back a little joy, light, family life, it’s magical.”
The 400 trees on the avenue shone brightly, after a countdown launched shortly before 8 p.m., in front of thousands of spectators who came especially for the occasion.
Lights always 100% LED and 100% made in France in white and champagne tones for consumption equivalent to that of a household of four people. They flash every quarter of an hour,
visible until January 7, from 5 p.m. to midnight, except on the evenings of December 24 and 31 when they will sparkle all night.
