This Wednesday, December 1, three short films by Gérard Corporon, director, filmmaker and actor from Sète were screened at Comoedia in Sète.
During its first screening, the audience was able to discover the animated clip “Histoires de Socks” made from plasticine by a Sétoise, Geraldine Pattier, to a song by another Sétois, Nicolas Grosso. This animation clip required 2,700 photos to achieve this process of animation called Stop Motion.
Director Gérard Corporon presented three of his short films, some of which have toured the world, selected and awarded at several national and international festivals. His wife, Jeanne Corporon, actress and many other professions, accompanies and supports her husband in the creation of his short films.
The first short film screened was “Fred”; The story of a homeless man who has moved and slept in Sète station during the Christmas period for 3 years. “Fred” is a workshop film created in 2019, within the UAICF to train members in initiation to cinema; Thierry Soria, playing Fred is unfortunately deceased to this day. Rosine Moularet Bély, actress (playing a cleaning lady), Rémy Arché, railway worker at the SNCF, amateur director (playing a receptionist at Sète station) and Patrick Lapeyrie playing a disgruntled traveler. Albert Peiffer, currently retired from the UAICF, has been heavily involved for several years in the creation of short films with Gérard Corporon.
The second short film “Cheyenne” is a short about the daily life of SNSM rescuers. It is Jérémy Banster, who plays the main character of Cheyenne, an actor known for his participation in the France 2 series “Un si grand soleil”. Jérémy Banster also recently played with Francis Huster in the TV movie “Murders on the Frioul Islands”, Henry Cohen plays the second role of lifeguard at sea and Gérard Corporon plays the role of fisherman, father of Jérémy Banster and Claude, a member of the SNSM Lifeguard crew in real life as well and many more … This short has been selected more than 70 times, it has obtained more than 35 awards to date.
The third short film “La Tombe sans nom” was produced in May 2021 in La Linière, on the heights of Lamalou in Hérault. It’s the story of a couple in their thirties, played by Tristan Impellizzeri and Anisya Depresle, accompanied by friend Alban Aumard to spend a weekend in the countryside. They are going to awaken an old legend that haunts the village …
The location and conditions of the night shoots helped to create the eerie character of the short. This short has been shortlisted five times and awarded twice so far.
We can only appreciate the talent and the multiple skills developed in these short films. Gérard Corporon’s professionalism, knowing how to surround himself with the right people, allows us, the public, to appreciate each short as a work of art, meticulously orchestrated.
For those who haven’t had the time or the leisure to go to the movies, above all, don’t hesitate for a second. It’s a pleasure every time and we look forward to a feature film.
It was a beautiful projection and a real discovery of the work of Stop Motion by Geraldine Pattier. Superb animation clip, strongly a screening for the pleasure of young and old alike.
