The first edition of the Olympic Day organized in France after the official nomination of the capital on September 13th, 2017 will take place June 23rd saturdays.
On May 29th, Denis Masseglia, president of the CNOSF (Olympic and Sporting National committee French), Tony Estanguet, president de Paris 2024 and Jean–François Martins, assistant of Maire de Paris in charge of the sport, tourism and the Olympic Games and Paralympiques presented the program of the Olympic Day of June 23rd on board the barge the FLOW, port of the Invalids. Several Olympian athletes and paralympiens were present of which Renaud Lavillenie and Gwladys Epangue;
Created in 1948, the Olympic Day takes place every year on June 23rd and was decided in January 1948 at the time of the 42ème session of CIO with St Moritz. It promotes in the whole world the values Olympic. Its date was scheduled on June 23rd, 1894 in reference with Baron Pierre de Coubertin and in the presence of 12 delegates representing the 12 countries joined together at the Sorbonne. For its first session, in 1948, 9 Olympic committees took part in it (Austria, Belgium, Canada, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Greece, Switzerland, Uruguay and Venezuela).
On June 23rd, will be the occasion to make discover the Olympic and paralympic sports with the public. Many demonstrations and meetings of initiation with athletes will be proposed to the visitors. For this first edition of the Olympic day after September 13th, 2017 when Paris was indicated Olympic city for the Games of 2024, the Park Banks of the Seine will be transformed into giant sports ground will offer programming of activities making it possible to the visitors to live the experiment of the Games in a festive atmosphere. By June 20th, the 20 Parisian districts will organize their Olympic Day and Paralympique; each town hall will put in scene cultural activities and educational around the values of the Olympic ideal. A diploma will be given at the end of the course made up of challenges and a quizz; it will make it possible to meet athletes present on June 23rd. Everyone will be able to take part unbounded of age including the school ones and the centers of leisure which will be able to discover new sports in the equipment of the capital.
On June 23rd, 250,000 m ² will be devoted to the sport in the middle of Paris of 12:00 to 21:30 and will propose 30 disciplines free in the presence of many French athletes on 2 banks of the Seine.
Right Bank, a nautical base will be installed Bridge Marie to the Bridge of Arts; a space of collective sports on the square of the Town hall where it will be possible to swim. Renaud Lavillenie will try to break his own world record of jump to the pole of high flight to the bridge of Arcole. Left bank, of the Bridge of Arts to the Port of Large Stone, one will find the sports of combat on the Bridge of Arts; the federations of athletics, gymnastics and badminton will be animated to the Port of Large Stone; demonstrations of trampoline and other disciplines air will be held on the Bridge Alexander III of 18:30 to 22:30. A free race within the framework of “24 races over 24:00” in link with the French federation of Athletics will enclose the Parisian day at 22:30. Bracelets LED and T–shirt fluorescent will be distributed to the participants.
Others races on the topic “24 races over 24:00” will take place everywhere in metropolis and in the territories Overseas. The first will leave to 10:30 to Marseilles.
