JOE BIDEN: VISIT TO FRANCE, ELECTORAL CAMPAIGN AND WITHDRAWAL

Finally, on July 21, after increasingly intense pressure, Joe Biden ends up giving up.

As the United States prepares to elect its president next November, Joe Biden is doing his best to maintain himself as Donald Trump’s main opponent

After his failed debate against the latter, the many flaws he is accused of have only increased. Whether it is his age (81 years old) or his cognitive abilities, he nevertheless reaffirmed on July 3 that he will not withdraw his candidacy and that several Democratic governors supported him.

During his visit to France for the commemorations of the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944, Joe Biden met with French President Emmanuel Macron. The next day, he was present with his wife Jill Biden at Pointe du Hoc and spoke in Utah and Omaha Beach where 73,000 Americans landed to “pave the way for the liberation of France and Europe from the Nazi regime. This was his way of emphasizing the importance of defending freedom and democracy. Among his Democratic supporters, many are putting his ability to successfully run his campaign at risk.

On July 11, during the press conference organized at the end of the NATO summit, he had to show his skills on issues such as international issues. Unfortunately, he made many slips of the tongue suggesting cognitive problems by confusing Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. However, this was far from the debate against Donald Trump. He revealed that he had undergone 3 major neurological examinations, the last in February, and reaffirmed that he wanted to “finish the work started in 2020” and be the one who could face Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinpin. He also made another slip of the tongue during President Zelensky’s visit, naming him President Putin but immediately correcting it. Following this, he hammered home that he was tired. For their part, elected officials, movie stars and donors are calling for Joe Biden to withdraw.

On July 13, a few days before the official inauguration, an assassination attempt took place at a rally in Pennsylvania, in Butler, as he began his speech. A spectator was killed and two others injured in the shooting, the president was injured in the ear. The shooter, Matthew Crooks, positioned on a roof, used an AR-15 rifle but we do not really know his motives. In addition, weapons were found in the trunk of his car.

The Democratic nomination convention will take place between August 19 and 22, Joe Biden will have to save his candidacy in front of parliamentarians who have demanded his withdrawal. Vice President Kamala Harris is being considered as his replacement, although he is not ready to accept this idea. When he speaks in public, he uses a teleprompter that he has to read, which is a change from the vindictive president he used to be. From now on, all his movements are controlled to avoid falls and speeches are meticulously prepared.

Finally, on July 21, after increasingly intense pressure, Joe Biden ends up giving up. This is not the first time this scenario has happened. It is therefore Vice President Kamala Harris who will be the Democratic Party’s candidate on November 5 against Donald Trump.

“I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country that I step aside and focus solely on serving as president for the remainder of my term,” he announced at a news conference, while also declaring his support for Kamala Harris, as did former President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton.
