HISTORY RECOGNIZED AT THE GUESCLIN PRIZE / THE GONZAGUE ST- BRIS BIOGRAPHY TROPHY / THE EMPIRE PRIZE AND THE 8TH TOWN HALL PRIZE

The 11th History Fair took place on December 6 at the Cercle National des Armées, place St Augustin (75008).

The 11th History Fair took place on December 6 at the Cercle National des Armées, place St Augustin (75008). About fifty authors were present between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to sign biographies, essays and historical novels.

On this occasion, Philippe Du Guesclin, Marquis de St-Gilles, Edouard St-Bris, JeanTulard of the Institut de France and the Mayor of the 8th arrondissement, Jeanne d’Hauteserre, presented the Du Guesclin Prize, the Gonzague Biography Trophy St-Bris, the Prix des Empires and that of the City Hall of the 8th.

The Guesclin Prize

The Cocktail & Culture Association and the Fontaine Libraries jointly created the Duguesclin Prize, Constable of France, in 2010. Each year, the Prisma Media Group awards this prize in December to reward authors on writings considered to be historical revelation of the year. The 2021 jury was made up of around fifteen members, writers, historians, journalists and radio and TV hosts, but also the 2019 winners of previous prizes and Marie-Claude Mahiette: president of the Europe Touraine Culture and Communication association, organizer of ” Writers at Gonzague Saint-Bris.

Prix ​​des Empires 2021: Jacques-Olivier Boudon – Napoleon the last Roman (Les Belles Lettres)

This award is intended to draw the public’s attention to the history of the 2 empires. Each year, the Fondation Napoléon has awarded 2 prizes since 2020: The Grand Prize and the Jury Prize. Previously, the Souvenir Prizes were awarded between 1978 and 1989. Under the direction of Baron Napoléon Gourgaud de Taillis, they became the First Empire Prize and the Second Empire Prize until 2000. From 2001, the Grand Prize and the Jury Prize are added. In 2019, only the Grand Prix and the Jury Prize will remain.

Gonzague Saint-Bris Biography Trophy 2021: Joël Cornette – Anne de Bretagne (NRF Gallimard).
The Gonzague St Bris biography Trophy was created in 2017 by the Cocktail et Culture association, after the disappearance of the writer-journalist. The latter was a permanent member of the Prix Du Guesclin since its creation in 2010. It is awarded each year.

8th district town hall prize: Patrick de Gmeline – Charles Nungesser (du Rocher).
The 8th District Town Hall Prize is another literary prize awarded each year by the Cocktail et Culture association.
